Many of you not from North America may not know much about Country music, so I wanted to offer a few songs/artists to listen to if you want to introduce yourself to the genre.

Among the fairly recent acts, several stand out:

Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces, You Were Mine, Traveling Soldier (think that's what it's called)

Brad Paisley - Who Needs Pictures, Two People Fell In Love, We Danced, Ode to Alcohol

Keith Urban (Australian) - You'll Think of Me, Where the Blacktop Ends, Somebody Like You

Montgomery Gentry - Lonely and Gone, Hillbilly Shoes, This Is My Town
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Then there are the superstars who've been around for 10 years or more (list of some):

Allan Jackson (Chattahoochie, Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning)

Tim McGraw (Don't Take the Girl, It's Your Love, Please Remember Me, Indian Outlaw)

George Strait (I Cross My Heart, Write This Down),

Vince Gill (I Still Believe In You, Whenever You Come Around)

Toby Keith (That's When Country Comes to Town; Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue)

Lee Ann Womack (I Hope You Dance, The Fool)

Martina McBride (Independence Day, Concrete Angels)

Faith Hill (She's A Wild One, There You'll Be, Just To Hear You Say that You Love Me)

Kenny Chesney (Me And You, She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy)

Sarah Evans (Born To Fly, No Place That Far)

Brooks and Dunn (Only In America, My Heart Is Lost to You)

Tumbleweed are actually more of an early 90s stoner rock band, from Australia.

I love that song! :D

What I think is hilarious is when he sung a song from the perspective of an Afghani under the Taliban. Everyone said it was politically incorrect and offensive. Album sold out in Afghanistan after he did a conert there.
