i'm thinking of doing a degree in architecture when i go back to uni in a year, so firstly is this generally a good degree/career, and secondly what are the best universities in the UK to take the subject?

Check the unemployment rate. Here, it's 50%. Can't know about UK.

Architects are graduate engineers + more. Expect spending a long, long time in the university.
