I’m looking for recommendations for free software (aside from the standard stuff that gets packaged with PCs and Macs) which people can use for audio and image editing. For example, I haven’t used Picasa – if you’ve used it, is it worth a look?
I’m looking because I’m trying to pull together some freebie resources for small, local, non-profits. These folks will not have the time/money resources to learn/purchase Photoshop, Soundforge, Audition or anything like that. They’ll just need to be able to tweak pictures or audio clips to insert into a Powerpoint presentation, for example. I know that digital cameras and recorders come with their own editing software, but I’d like to give them some alternatives, especially because these folks tend to get a lot of this type of equipment donated second hand, they aren’t always getting the original disks, manuals, etc that may have come with a product.
Anyway, I’m doing some research on my own, but if any of you know of stable, free software that is worth a gander, I’d much appreciate your thoughts. Many thanks, in advance! :)
