A Little About Myself (Im New)

Hey yal, nice to meet you, um, I am new here in case you cant tell was told to go to this site by a friend of mine, since I saw no Introduction threat, I assumed this is the place for it.

Anywho

My name is Makai Hall, I am 22 and live in Denver Colorado.

I work for a small Colorado based animation company. My nation name is actually based of a character from a book i read long ago, it wasnt published so dont go bothering searching for it.

Okay and a couple little facts about myself.
I grew up in Littleton Colorado, and was a student at Columbine High School during the now infamous massacre, I was trapped in the library, and was hit by shotgun fire in my leg, and side, as well as getting shrapnel to the left side of my face.

I am a licensed pilot, picked it up from the Civil Air Patrol Air Force Auxillery way back from when I was a youth, dont use the skill anymore though, say for the occasional fun flight on my friends Cessna.

Lets see what else is interesting, um I own a talking toaster!

Well there you go, I hope to be a good member of this forum in the future, and please respond who ever reads, i want to get to know more people, dont need my nation dieing on like the first week.

I wish, the closest thing it has to that is like, "Dont Touch Me Im Hot" -P

Nice to meet you and I hope that ALL of your wounds heal in time? Thank you, if your tlaking about Columbine, im over that, I came to grips with that almost the very month it happened, I finished my education at the school after the attacks and everything. However for the first 2 weeks after the attack I was a wreck, I hid under a table with Patrick Ireland, who was so tore up and damged and I still feel guilty to this day that I fled the library when the 2 boys left leaving him there, he lived, but still we coudnt carry him. I wrote about what happened through my eyes before along time ago on some forum way back when in Dial Up Land.

Still feel guilty.....that is a wound that will heal eventually and the scar will fade, but it will always be there. But I am glad that you have come to terms with most of it.
I've been through a lot in my life, but I have learned that looking back on mistakes (or percieved mistakes) with guilt does nothing. Looking back and taking strngth or learning a lesson does.

Hi, Makai. Most of the roleplay introduction threads are actually incorporated into one, now. Here's the link (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=414035). Euroslavia's one of the best roleplayers we have, and he likes to have proper, serious rp's.
International Incidents is where most of the roleplay actually takes place, with a few storefronts to make it interesting. I like to have a clearly defined army, at the least, and storefronts are a good way to equip your troops. Some people only sell real-life weapons and things, but there's a few of note who've made up loads of small-arms/vehicles/planes/ships/whatever.

An important thing to accept during wars; Sometimes You Lose.

Sometimes it's better for your nation if you just cut the shit and sue for peace. I've seen a couple of rp's where people have done a Hitler, running their nation into the ground rather than accepting their losses. This is held as pretty stupid by most, but if you're playing as a dictatorship, sometimes it fits the mentality and can be included in a game.

Important #2; You Don't Go To War Straight Away.

You go through the motions, doing diplomatic things and all that. This is usually rp'ed, so brush up on that letter-writing. Of course, this doesn't apply if you just want to Blitzkrieg someone, but other than third-world countries, that just don't happen any more.

Check out http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/ for your Defence Budget, among other things. People usually get a bit annoyed when some brand new nation comes on and orders more than they can pay for, so be sure to check this out before placing an order on a storefront. I don't actually know who has a storefront, not off by heart, anyway, apart from myself. The link for mine is in my signature - just click on 'Verghastinsel Armaments'.

Don't be surprised if thirdgeek.com isn't working, sometimes their server is a bit unrelieable.

Don't forget to name a few members of your government. Usual procedure is; Head of State (Monarch/Chancellor/PM/President/Whatever), Foreign Minister and Defence Minister. Anyone after that is unlikely to get used much. Just sign off official posts with their name and department. Example:

To: <NATION NAME> Ministry of Defence

Blah, blah, blah.

Emil Kaufman
Foreign Minister

Other than that, I can't really help. My advice is to play at least three months of Trial-And-Error.

Good luck.

Well yes I guess, but quilt is differant, I know soldiers from WWII who still feel guilt over what they done nearly 60 years later =(, thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice, I have been reading around abit before I joined, but it looks like I have a bit of number crunching to do then, haha, ah well, thanks very much.

Look, two nations from the same region acting totally independantly, on the same thread.
(Looks round, unless of course Verghi is stalking me again......)

Obviously Silberunion is the region for you to be in if you haven't yet decided where you want to be.
We're a mixed bunch and offer a lot of variety in both outlook and roleplay style.....

This is spam? I didint know, no one told me.Well, borderline. Spam is defined as pointless, off-topic, or obscene posts. This is a pretty pointless thread (the last time I started a thread about myself Fris threatened to lock it -- that's Frisbeeteria, one of our most efficient and hardworking forum mods). I doubt that it'll be locked, but I'm pretty sure it's not allowed.

Don't mind too much about it. Almost all the stuff that goes on here is spammy to some degree. Whenever you post a sensible question you get a bunch of jokers who post before anyone sensible replies. ;) I should know. I'm one of them. (the jokers I mean, lol)

Sorry, I just hate with a fucking passion anyone who shakes a finger anywhere on this board because of fucking mod rules.

It's a political forum, and like my own political ideals, I think kissing the authority's ass in any way just makes your breath smell nasty.

Other than that, I apologize for the generaliztion as it was a bit personal (if kinda in a third person way). I don't know you, and I'm now gonna assume you're pretty cool until I see otherwise (pretty sure I won't, since you're pretty moderate).

I'm not the mods' biggest fan myself. My least favorite may be Frisbeeteria, if only because he's the strictest. My favorite is perhaps the least strictest, Myrth, but he was forced to retire. :( Mod oppression is a real phenomenon.

And I'm a moderate libertarian. I believe in maximum freedom, except economic. Although I think capitalism is a very good idea, I'm wary of creating a state ruled by corporations, because that leaves the poor and unemployed in an awful state. Being poor and unemployed myself (well, ok, I'm not yet old enough to have a job and am still under the financial control of my parents....but meh;)) I understand how they feel.

Therefore I am one of the few who deserves the title "Socialist Libertarian". It does make sense, doesn't it?

I'm gonna sound ignorant, but who cares? I have no shame...

What exactly is a fucking crumpet?

Biscuit, cookie, or both-kinda-thingy?

Are the Britts really pissed that a certain French leader doesn't like their supposedly awful cooking? :D

Dunno about the Brits, I'm not one.

Crumpets are very hard to explain. They're a bit like muffins (the English style, not the cake-like American style). They're round, flat, a bit thicker than a muffin & some sort of raising agent is used to put lots of little holes in the top (sort of like burst bubbles). They're delicious.

Crumpet is also a (polite) slang term for sex, similar to nookie.

Not quite. It's more like "nice bit of crumpet" when you're referring to a girl/shag. It's a bit of an old fashioned saying these days.

Okay, I have no idea how it happened, but a crumpet has now officially earned a degree of mystique in my warped psyche. I still don't have a clear pic of WTF this food is, or looks like.

I'm gonna hafta hunt one down now, damnit.

So, Makai, what sort of nation is Yamolex and what type of roleplaying do you like doing?
There's a varied list here, from Low tech to Future tech, there's always something somewhere for people to get into and it does help when you're looking for a region.

Well im a Modern nation, god knows my mind would explode trying to do future stuff.

While im small, my nation is gonna relie on a small outdated military, which hopefully can use smart tactics and spying to prevail in a war. For the first few days here, im just gonna observe then maybe make some Rps, I dont want to quite start a war yet or be in one, but I may have some catostrophe, or a water shortage or something.

Sensible way to start, there's more to role play than just declaring war. Infact the ones I have enjoyed most have not involved war at all.
