Nice way to trivialize a tragic event less than twenty four hours after it happened. How callous can you be?

33 people died, and all you can do is make a joke? Maybe if it was a funny joke, it would be partly okay. But that was dumb and rude.

Love to hate you, dude.

Seriously, you (1) Dissed Harry Potter, and therefore dissed J.K. Rowling, (2) disrespected the dead, and (3) created a thread for it. Nice going.

Half-assed attempt at humor.

Humor I can stand; it's one of the way to help get over grief.

But seriously. Try harder.

Maybe it WAS Harry Potter. After all...

Harry Potter was at the G8 summit in 2001.

I don't think he's 11yr. Why would an 11yr keep up with current events? I don't think current events is part of a grade 5 curriculum.

canadian curriculum is different from american curriculum. And it's the summer so i wouldn't have to keep up with the current events. and it's hard to ignore the fact that "BREAKING NEWS" is written pretty much all over the CNN screen when your parents are watching the news.

Its not smart to make a very questionable thread like this.

The joke wasn't THAT bad. I have made far worse. You could in fact argue that the sheer crappiness made it funny. (unlike mine, which are often so crappy that they fall below even that level)

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with posting crappy jokes about anything occuring, no matter how serious it is, but I guess I have a far weirder and more twisted sense of humor than most people.

Not that I'm defending the kid for joking about it, but I know there are foreigners who laugh about 9-11. So kids like him aren't the only fools in the world.

And as soon as I heard about it, I'll admit I immediately turned to my dad and said "It's the French. Upset about the Olympics." But that was just the anti-France feeling a lot of Americans hold talking.

I feel deeply sorry for all the Brits who died/were injured by the bombs, and I hope this strengthens their resolve to help the US fight Terrormism. It's about time Europe wakes up... (although Britain has been awake for a while, for which I thank them. It upsets me when the government here says "our allies in Britain..." What should be said is "Our FRIENDS in Britain" because I don't think relations between our nations should just be buisiness. We are probably the two greatest countries on Earth, and we should be friends.)

And it upsets me when people compare this to the Iraqis dieing in Iraq from suicide bombs and stuff. Maybe there wouldn't be suicide bombers in Iraq if we hadn't invaded, but there would be a psycho-evil dictator. We're trying to help Iraqis, we aren't wanting them to be killed. Even if we are the cause of some of them dieing. We are helping them in the long run. And we're winning this war.

*Imitates buzzer.* No, current events are not typically part of a 5th grade curriculum, but plenty of 10 or 11 year olds take interest in current events.
