How pissed off does Bono have to be today? He was all set to get credit for anything the G8 might have decided to do in relation to Africa. Then just as they're about to meet, these terrorists strike and thoughtlessly divert all that attention away to security instead.
I'm sure he's appalled by the deaths too, but you know inside he's got to be going nuts over the complete eclipsing of Live8.
Yes, I suppose the terrorists did steal his thunder.
Bono: Strap up boys, we're going to go get our spotlight back.

WHOA! I've just had this idea!
You know how there's a theory that 9/11 was known about and allowed for the rush of patriotism that would spring up? What if this was done to direct the UK's attention the same way? Everyone knows how much the public disapproves of the Iraq invasion, this could have been a half-arsed attempt to swing us into 'Let's crack their heads' mode.
Not that likely, though. Not really big enough to have such an effect, and I doubt that we'd react quite like them Yanks.

Wacky conspiracy theories #1, 2 and 3.
#1. Bono hates Africa.
#2. The London bombs were targeting Bob Geldof.
#3. Bush falling from is bicycle on a policeman was a secret signal destined to the Illuminati.
Fox, could you possibly wait just a little bit before starting this kind of crap? At least till they get the blood off the streets? K? Thx.

Well the G8 countries decided double aid to africa and also increase the writing of on aid. Of course you have to see how much it will be worth but atleast they didn't let the terrorist will by droping their agenda.

Actually - thought about it and dismissed it pretty quickly. Even someone like myself, with a predeliction for giving certain conspiracy theories a reasonable airing, has their limits.

The conspiracy is actually a bit more obvious than that... this attack was clearly intended to make people frightened of public transport... why? So they'll all start getting around in big ol' gas-guzzling cars... so who wins? The oil companies! And I think we all know that the oil companies are run by the Illuminati, who are locked in a ceasless holy war with the hybrid-car manufacturing Vatican.
Also, I watched all of Live8... it was a bit long.

G8 pledges $50 billion to Africa (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/07/08/g8.main.ap/index.html)
British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday hailed the G8's $50 billion package for Africa and other agreements as "a beginning, not the end" of a new era in aid to the world's poorest nations.
Blair spoke at the end of this week's G8 summit in Scotland, a meeting overshadowed by Thursday's London terror attacks but which ended with defiant talk and pledges to address both poverty and climate change.
Terrorism "will not obscure what we came here to achieve. The purpose of terror is not only to kill, it is to put despair into people's hearts," Blair said. (Full story)
"All of this does not change the world tomorrow. It is a beginning, not an end."
The British prime minister made African poverty and climate change the centerpiece of the three-day summit. The G8 countries had already agreed to cancel the debt of 18 of the world's poorest countries, 14 of them in Africa.

What did Live8 have to do with any of that. Answer: Nothing. They would have given it had Mr. Bono and Mr. McCartney simply sat in their mansions eating caviar that day instead of wasting money and causing pollution with all the trash generated at their concerts.

Nice bait-and-switch now that you've been proven wrong in your original argument.

Exactly. All of the time, effort, manpower, and $12,000 goodie bags needed for these concerts could have been used to actually help Africa.

Giving aid to Africa does nothing. Africa has had far more money than Europe recieved with the Marshall plan, yet has done nothing with it. What the leaders didn't do is open up trade, something that would have helped. If Africa can trade better, it can sort out its own problems. All this aid will do nothing. Even worse is the debt relief. This has destroyed Africa's credit rating. When, in 10 or so years time, they want a loan for a good purpose no one will lend them the money! Great victory G8 & Live8!
