He's the greatest singer there is! Haven't you ever heard In The Air Tonight, Another Day in Paradise, You Can't Hurry Love (that was originally done by the Supremes but Phil Collins' better)? He was even in a movie, Buster. You must have heard of him.

Hes kind of past that whole Rock and or Roll time with a poppy beat and real lyrics.

Can be high pitched.

To those who don't know, he's a bald-headed fellow who keeps coming up with these cheesy adult ballads. And he used to play drums and sing in Genesis. [refering to the band, not the bible book. eh.] I shall now quote Nerf Herder and their song Feeling bad - "Thought I looked like Henry Rollins [muscular singer/shouter of black flag/rollins band fame], but I still looked like Phil Collins"

Ohhhh, I don't know....somewhere under absolute shite one would imagine. The bald-headed dwarf that he is. Irritating mindless pap it really is. I can't believe people still like his music. One of the lower points of '80s music, it really was.

You Can't Hurry Love (http://musicmp3.ru/sn.html?ar=886&al=382)

Here's a place where you can listen to it. First you have to register. You just have to type a bunch of random letters for your Name, address, country, state, etc. If you put in random letters for your e-mail remember to put the '@' and the provider. Then you can listen to it by clicking the little speaker next to 'You Can't Hurry Love' in the link. Doesn't take that long, and it's a really good song.

A half-decent drummer with a half-decent voice, who writes crappy songs? Naaaah.
Other Genesis members have more talent.

I used to like his solo work and also Genesis back in the 80s. He is very talented and succesful.
I dont care for that type of music anymore, but will say that he was on the top of the world for some time back then.
And he seemed like a genuinely nice person as well.

Phil Collins must die! This man single handedly introduced the worst thing about any 80s song: The gated snare. Plus, his music is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I love Phil Collins, though sometimes I find it hard to distinguish his solo work from his Genesis material. The lines of demarcation don't seem as clear to me. Then again, I'm a Stevie Nicks fanatic and her solo work and Fleetwood Mac stuff is distinct. To me, at least.

Of coarse I like Phil Collins, he's my dad :) (just his name, he's not the artist, heh)

As for the musician, meh, he's alright. I didn't care for him much, but some of his stuff is better than a lot of the new crap I hear on the radio and see on MTV.

Phil Collins was a fantastic drummer with his time in Genesis (strictly Gabriel era). But can you, for a moment compare Suppers Ready to In the Air Tonight?
Demented Hamsters
07-07-2005, 18:11
He never had a train come out of his mouth when singing.
Hence he is nowhere near as talented as Peter Gabriel.

Also 'Gabriel' is a far cooler surname than 'Collins'. It sounds almost like 'Colons', which is apt considering how I feel about Collin's songs.

Indifferent actor.

Phil Collins is generally revered as an excellent drummer. While not the best-trained singer, he certainly has a unique voice. Personally, I've always been a Genesis fan, and I occaisionally like his solo stuff (In The Air Tonight, Can't Hurry Love, Another Day In Paradise).

If you like Phil collins because of his Genesis stuff then you are obviously too young to remember peter gabriel.
PC was a good drummer and he plays piano and sings like, well a drummer.
Bad shirts and sloppy pop songs don't make a loveable man.
I say again, peter gabriel, the album foxtrot, a flower. If you don't get that I feel sorry for you. ;)

I like Phil Collins and his music a lot, but I'm an "oldie" so prefer mostly 70s and 80s music compared to most of what is pumped out today. So much of it sounds the same.

Saw Buster years ago. It was a good movie and I think he did OK in it.
