Just heard on the radio that you were chosen to host the Olympics! Better you than Moscow, New York, or that city in Spain (I forgot the name...).

Madrid? I still would've rather seen Paris, but it is definitely better than New York or Madrid.

Madrid. It's Madrid.

Should've seen NY's reaction on CNN. I laughed.

Good job London or Madrid. New York didn't need it really.

Well, I would have rather liked Paris, but oh well, London deserves it.

I think London will do a great job hosting the 2012 Olympics. Congratulations to London...now the real work begins. :)

New York's bid was a joke. The IOC turned up and asked where the stadium was; the best the city could offer was that there was the off-chance that one might be built. Three days later they decided not to build it after all.

Even with all that there were people who thought NYC still had a chance.

That's bad enough, but New York spent eleven years on this bid. Typical government waste.

Congrats, blokes. Chirac screwed up all chances of Paris getting 'em with those snide "All England has given European agriculture is Mad Cow" and "The only people with worse food than the British are the Finns" remarks.

I have to agree, this is the general opinion here in Britain seeing as before he made those idiotic remarks Paris was generally considered to be a reasonably clear favourite. But then he seems to think that any attack on Britain will somehow restore his appallingly low public approval rating.

On the other hand from a British point of view I wish Paris had got it as personally I dont fancy my country's economy going 2 billion into the red like the Greeks did - and they invented the whole thing so they were far more geared up for it than we are or will be!
