And Verghastinsel, I can see you're on a non-XP version of windows, so you can't get invisa-backgrounds on the icon text, but you can change it to a color that matches your background, you know....

Myspace did it for me. I'm sick of sites bitching about me using up their bandwidth. Figred myspace had too may teens already bitching up the site for them to pay any attention to me.

And yes. I use less than half of the shortcuts on the desktop.

I was seriously considering going to school for graphic design/animation myself. Do you find the market to be saturated? A friend of mine told me that its hard to find a job in the field becuase so many people want to do it.

It's not as saturated as one might think. There's still a lot of jobs in the web design field...especially if you're multi-functional (design plus development or server administration). It also depends on where you live.

It's really the game design market that's getting saturated.

Really? From what I've heard, Bioware is just screaming for people right now. But thanks for the info. I'm thinking maybe I'll get my Bachelor's in Computer Systems first, and then maybe take another couple of years of design to beef up my resume. I'd love to get into digital animation, but you're right, its alot easier to get a good job when you have a wide array of training and skills. Of course, its all just speculation right now, but I'm 24, so I suppose if I'm going to do anything constructive with my life, it should be soon. ;)

It is a bit bright--I've only had it up for a couple of days and I don't imagine it'll last for precisely that reason.

As to the icons, that's solved by the bar at the bottom--I rarely use anything that's actually sitting on the desktop.

APT is short for Advanced Packaging Technology. It allows you to instal precompiled software of the web. Debian and Debian based (Linspire, Ubuntu, etc) use apt. It you use APT via Terminal (command prompt). Some distros come with a guide for APT (Ubuntu's Guide shows you how to install many applications with APT). Synaptic is basicly the free version of Linspire's Click N' Run, although its not quite as good. It uses APT to install packages for you. Its not as good as Click N' Run because it does not install all packages to the same folder, does not always create launchers (at least for Ubuntu). Sorry for going of topic.
