Hmm 120 million.

What is interesting is that my neighbor who is a diehard catholic argues the abuse is recent. Hell even the Pope said the American Press made the situation more then it was.

Yet this case involves people over the last 50 years and it's cost them 1 billion so far?

Ahh well.

It's hurting them as I know of 2 90 year old ladies that were the go to church every minute possible types. When the Boston thing blew and they heard the responces; they stopped going.

Don't forget the Duplessis Orphans, in Canada.

A large scale case of government-sponsored church abuse during the years 1930s and 1940s.
Very revolting.
I know one of the survivors, writer Bruno Roy -- hopefully he recovered and became the head of the Union des Écrivains du Québec (Quebec Writers Union).

The catholic church has definitely got some problems. They have hurt their faithful and have not in many cases taken appropriate action about their priests love of children. But don't worry, the popes that allowed all of that are going to hell. :D

DAMN!

I may have worked with a daughter of one of the survivors. I met her mother once at a party and I forget who the subject of Catholics was brought up but I remember the look on her face. She was nice, smiling and then she got the dark look and muttered nastily something about "they maybe Priests (or was it monks) but they are still men!" and she walked away.

My coworker said she has never gotten an answer but she thinks she was raped.

She was about the right age for it and I remember her mentioning she was an orphan.

Now I wonder if she was part of that or a seperate incident?

Wow.......

We have to own up to it, and I never try to deny any of the abuse. This has been going on for too long, and it is due to pride (one of the seven deadly sins, ironically enough) that nothing was done. I hope that all of the Church leaders who participated in the conspiracy to conceal the abuse, both now and in the past, will recieve proper punishment from God for their evil acts.
