How about Condoleezza Rice, Condi Rice, what do you all think of the idea, she would be the first conservative African American
Supreme Court Justice women.
I loathe conservative justices, black or white, male or female.
(I don't mind libertarians)
Elaboration: I feel that the role of a justice is to maintain, revolutionalize, or loosen the constitution. Not uphold it dogmatically or had restrictions to it.

she also happens to be a known liar - which proably counts in her favor under current conditions.

With all due respect to you that is your right but dont you think that someone else could say the same in reverse about your views and have that right in a democratic society because they just happen to disagree with your interpretation.

The Court's role is to interpret the Constitution, not 'loosen' or 'revolutionalize' it.
We have lawmakers for a reason.

Of course, it's just my view. Beyond that, I don't like her as a political figure, her track record being sketchy at best.

I meant that they would side in favor of the laws that loosen and revolutionalize the Constitution, as opposed to adding restrictions to it or upholding a strict construction of it.

Being English don't have a view other than if she can do the job then ok, why get hung up on labels? Is she a vegitarian? If so better include that in the label. As far as I'm concenred she's an American politician. Still can't get this Afro American, Scots American thing. The only distinctions that I see where I am are, English, Scottish and Welsh and if your in the North, Southerners. I just find the whole need to define people by where thier great grandparent came from strange.

If you agree with the president no problem but if you disagree with the president, the president needs to pick someone he agrees with based on his interpretations, would a liberal democratic president choose a conservative republican supreme court justice, would a conservative republican president choose a liberal supreme court justice?
Just because you dont like president Bush and his views and interpretations, dosent mean
your views are right and his are wrong, just because i dont like Kerry had he been president and his views and interpretations dosent mean my views are right and his are wrong.
I wonder if there is a better way of picking Supreme Court Justices, other than by the president?
I think it is a good question to cover on this thread.

Other than being a conservative (on at least foreign policy) African-American woman, does she have any qualifications?
Ever been a judge of any kind? No.
Even a lawyer? No.
Even remotely qualified? No.

She has absolutely no qualifications for the job. She was never a judge; not even a lawyer. The only thing that seems to make her someone to consider in your mind is that she's a female minority.
edit: Seems like Cat-Tribe beat me to it.

We have lawmakers for a reason.
Which is exactly the reason we have a court

She'd be an awful justice, she has no qualifications other than being in the public political eye.
We need a good moderate. The 4 liberals are going to constantly take the liberal option, the 4 conservatives are going to take the conservative option (usually). This person will be the swing vote, they need to be without affiliation, someone who will actually look at the constitution and decide what it says.
