*Shakes fist at misogynists*

Here's something a bit different from the religious/political debates proliferating here on NS.

So, I was sitting on the bus today, waiting to come home, and some guy sits next to me, taking notice of two female horse mounted police officers. He begins mentioning how women here in the US (he was from Jamaica) are "match sticks", and to paraphrase his long and repetitive diatribe, "can't do shit to men". I mentioned tazers, and female soldiers, and, in his mind, apparently a woman still can't take on a man given a weapon or training. At this point, I was getting rather pissed, but decided to remain polite. He went on to say that women don't respect whatever uniform they put on, or the law, and that he seemed to think all men do.

Now, I've never once thought a woman less capable than a man in any aspect. In fact, my girlfriend is easily the toughest person I've ever met, though she doesn't look it. I know for a fact a woman is just as capable, if not more so, in handling herself in a given situation when compared to a man.

Gah..this is precisely the kind of guy that makes the rest of us guys look horrible.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

That guy was an idiot. People aren't weaker because they have an innie between their legs; likewise, people aren't stronger because they have stuff hanging out between their legs.

No he just makes Jamacians look bad, unless people choose to judge all men the same way he thinks of all women in the US. And that would be somewhat unsettlingly hypocritical, wouldn't it? I will not comment on anything more, but there are a lot of matchstick women out there. There are also some overweight ones. Then again there are ones that are...well needless to say they can handle themselves is all I'll say. But that can be said about men too. The guy has a right to his opinion. My advice is to ignor it because in the long run, no one really cares enough to make it big issue. Besides, we cant patrol people's opinions. My advice is: Gee, opposing views? Yeah, they exist, better get used to it, take a deep breath, and move on with your life. Mounties, male or female, dont do anything anyway. ;)

NOTE: I have no comment to either party's opinion. I support niether view as I have objections to both on certain particular points.
