Theres simply not enough music threads here in General for my taste. Post what music you've been listening to, not necessarily whats playing at this exact moment, but what artists/albums have been occupying your playlist lately.

Lately I've been listening to The Aquabats alot. Even though Charge! doesnt have the horns that previous albums had its still one of the best Ska cd's ive heard in a long time. The Voodoo Glow Skulls are also really good, unfortunatley ive had trouble trying to find their stuff...

And Blue Orchid by the White Stripes is excellent, but the rest of that album (Get Behind Me Satan) is non-recyclable trash.

I just got Dream Theater's new one, Octavarium. I haven't had it long enough to really have a favorite, but "The Answer Lies Within," "Sacrificed Sons," and "Octavarium" are all good. It's no Train of Thought, though.

Also, I've recently picked up Iced Earth's Days of Purgatory. It's a bunch of their old songs re-recorded with their current singer at the time. It's great to hear "Colors" and "When the Night Falls" sung by a vocalist with some talent.

I'm currently listening to Dave Matthews Band. I got to see them in concert a month or so ago, and it was amazing. Any time a band can sound the same on the radio as they do live, you know they have talent. Carter Beuaford, the drummer who started with the band at 16, will drum your face.

His new album, Stand Up, is incredible.

Right now I'm listening to The Cockney Rejects - Oi! Oi! Oi!

"Hear that cry throughout the streets, we know just what it means
And even to the ignorant, it ‘aignt what it seems
Through every city backstreets, the kids from all around
They all come to join the fun, cause they know the sound
They all try to ignore us, but we wont let 'em win
The wankers try to put us down, but we will smash them in
Cause we all say, that they're full of shit

And we're running down the backstreets
And we're running unafraid
Cause we all know that's the sound of the streets

And we're running down the backstreets
Got our martins on our feet
And you're all running down the backstreets with me

The kids they come from everywhere, the east end’s all around
Cause they all know what it means, when they hear the sound
You know what to do, when you hear the call
Put your boots and earrings on, and kick down that fucking wall
You can listen to politicians, they'll lead you astray
You're gonna see the light and your gonna see the way
And we all know that there's nothing like us

And we're running down the backstreets
And we're never giving in
Cause we all know that we're gonna fucking win"

Next up is Bitter Bois - Backstreet Bois

"Come with me to the backstreet, where the gangs of skinheads meet
Shaven heads and Levi jeans, hear the urban Oi!Oi! beat
Loads of beer and lots of fun, in a fight we'll never run!

Mr Know-It-All, 4Q, don't you tell us what to do
Don't you tell us what to wear, 'cos we just don't fucking care
We're the cult you cunts all hate, being skinheads is our fate

We're the cult you can't destroy, we'll be back and shout "Oi!Oi!"
It's our own songs that we'll always sing, don't need commercial chart pop shit
We've got pride and dignity, that's why we will always win!"

I've spend most of the day drooling over the UK Oi! Punk band Deadline I found out about last week. Heavy rock influence, like the Oi! bands of days gone by. Has a killer female singer, which is pretty untraditional for Oi! Punkers.

I just got their split with BKB, so that's what I'm listening to right now. Fucking brilliant. The record's called Brassknuckle Boys & Deadline - Any Fate But Submission (http://www.midheaven.com/artists/brassknuckle.boys.deadline.html) . What the hell is a hollaback girl anyway?
A hollaback girl is a girl that hollers back.

Let's say one girls says something nasty about another, if the second girl says something nasty back then she would be a hollaback girl.

So in the song, someone said something about Gwen and she's going to kick her ass. So without cheaping out and just saying something about the girl, Gwen's just going to shove her foot down her throat.

"I ain't no hollaback girl!"

*Bump*

Finally got Wir Sind Die Skins today. Probably the best of Loikaemie's albums. Goddamn it's good!! Allow me to share some of the lyrics :)

Way Of Life

I sometimes stretch your fuckin' rules
But I'm not dumb, I'm not a fool
I don't need anybody tellin' me what I have to do
I know what I want 'coz that's my attitude
I won't be dictated to
I do what I want to do
And if the people on the streets cannot understand
I also sometimes convince them with violence

I'm no boozer, but I'm sometimes drunk
I tell what I want, I have a ready tongue
Many tried to missuse me for their own aims
But I'm still independent and go my own way

Diffamed by the press, standered by society
They only tell you lies because of their density
So don't believe those muckmuckers and their ficticious news
Come to me and I'll show you what's false and what's true

I like my way, my way of life
I'm a skinhead that's my pride
Oi! is my music, belongs to me
It stands for the cult and unity

This last one's oddly apropriate for this forum... :p
