I thought I would look up a few random historical and more recent people, and heres what I came up with:
Google searches yield:
51,800,000 for George Washington
38,400,000 for George Bush
25,700,000 for Jesus
23,800,000 for John Paul II
21,100,000 for John Kennedy
14,500,000 for Porn (as a sort of average, you understand :P)
8,990,000 for Tony Blair
8,040,000 for Prince William
7,200,000 for Catherine the Great
6,790,000 for Prince Harry
6,550,000 for Henry Ford
5,400,000 for Satan
5,220,000 for Queen Victoria
5,210,000 for Benjamin Franklin
4,150,000 for Abraham Lincoln
3,780,000 for Franklin Roosevelt
3,010,000 for Karl Marx
2,400,000 for Henry VIII
2,310,000 for Ho Chi Minh
2,160,000 for Thomas Edison
1,950,000 for Jacques Chirac

604,000 for Mao Zedong
577,000 for Mikhail Gorbachev
569,000 for Genghis Khan
257,000 for Adolph Hitler (8,110,000 for just Hitler, though)
235,000 for Attila Hun
220,000 for Leon Trotsky
131,000 for Nikita Khrushchev
69,100 for Nicholas Romanov
57,800 for Chang Kai Shek
30,800 for Anastasia Romanov
21,600 for Isoroku Yamamoto
---
I was rather suprised. Khrushchev AND Hitler got fewer searches than Pol Pot...
And there was only one search that outdid Washington, and that was God :P
I decided that would spark a debate as to whether or not God was a famous person, so I didnt put it in.
...Isn't Google's database and results number based on recommendations of others?
Bush is more recommended than Jesus?
...got Bush?
...that so came out wrong.

Ah, but none of them were supposedly crushed to death by a horse whilst trying to have sexual congress with it, were they? You just can't buy that kind of publicity.

Google searches yield:
51,800,000 for George Washington
Seems to me like you didn't use apostrophes around the search terms - try it as "George Washington" and you get 9,630,000 results.
7,200,000 for Catherine the Great
"Catherine the Great" - 189,000 results.

Bah, she had a stroke whilst she was on the pot, nobody was in the room at the time so she died :P
Of course, if she had been mainstream European royalty she would have had at least six people int he room at the time. Silly Russian customs, Im afraid.
She DID have a secret room portraying graphic bestiality, paedophillia and suchlike, as well as regular sex acts performed in odd ways. Apparently she was a fan of sex, but usualy with her own species.

Pretty weird results, considering what you'd expect to see from a search for some of those names...
Incidentally, my name came up with 315,000 results, and it's not a particularly popular name either... though strangely enough there is a freeware computer game with my exact name as its title :/. I'm going to be having words with some people...

Well, if you search for those names and put them in quotation marks (so it search for "george washington" instead of searching for "george" and "washington" and combining those results), the results are a little different.
For instance, any article about George Bush in Washington, D.C., will come up as a result for a search for George Washington if you don't use the quotation marks. Not to mention all the results if you searched for just george or just washington all come up if you search for George Washington without quotation marks.

At least the Christians will be happy that Jesus and JPII got significantly more results than "porn". :)
I was rather suprised. Khrushchev AND Hitler got fewer searches than Pol Pot...
Unlike you, most people spell Hitler's first name as "Adolf". That's why it yielded so few results.

That's cause you spelled "Adolf" wrong...

If you know how to use Google (and pay attention), Google can be the best spell checker in the world...especially if you use the define: style search.
By the way, "adolph" is a front somersault with 3 1/2 twists.

Note the used of the word 'supposedly' in my post: I wasn't claiming truth for the urban legend, just noting its effects.
