I went to see Kung Fu Hustle last night, and I think it's pretty much my favorite movie now.
Has anyone else seen it? Thoughts?
It managed to have serious moments while remaining completely rediculous and awesome. Twas good.
Good. That's about it for now.

It was wonderful, I gave it 5 stars. The other Stephen Chow movie "Siu lam juk kau" (Shao Lin Soccer) is also pretty good. Not quite up to the level of Kung Fu Hustle but very good nonetheless.

Haven't seen it but Shaolin Soccer was really weird.
Shaolin Soccer is truly awesome. Kung Fu Hustle cuts back a bit on the weird, but the stunts etc are way better, so it compensates. In fact it overcompensates. In that Kung Fu Hustle's better.

I have it on DVD (It was released here before Xmas).
It was ok. I felt it was a bit rushed, like he was trying to tie in too many movie genres and could only play lip-service to them all. Either it should have been longer or he should have tightened it up a bit more and dropped some of the superfluous bits.
Like the girl from his childhood. That kinda irritated me, cause he treated her so badly throughout the movie but at the end they end up together without him at least apologising. It also had nothing much to do with the story at all (aside from the childhood scene). From what I remember she just pops up now and again through-out the film, fades from the movie half-way through then reappears right at the end. Drop all her scenes and it wouldn't affect the movie one bit. But there were other scenes that should have been extended and explored further.
I did like the toad-man though.
I'd give it 6/10, myself.
