When I was held prisoner, we weren't given much to eat, but we did find enough nourishment to survive in earthworms.

Taruantulas aren't insects.

That said, I think a butterfly would be pretty tasty...I wonder if it'd be good on bread...or better yet, popcorn...

They are quite bitter, gave us awful cramps.

Why don't you have Rice Bug as one of the options?

They were a crunchy addition to our rice ration. Not very tasty though. :(

Scorpion, I guess. They're an arachnid, and so're lobsters..so, I could pretend I was eating a lobster....That could potentially kill me.

Quite seriously, Rice Bugs are considered a delicacy in Thailand and Vietnam.

And neither are the scorpions. I chose them though.

Ant. Small and not too mushy.

Guess I didn't see it from their perspectives. Silly me.

Mosquito. Probably have eaten quite a few of them considering where I live. Hundreds of the buggers buzzing around you and constantly stinging is just a part of the summer here, so you can't really be too disgusted with them.

Ant would be my second choice, but they bite... Hard. I imagine they could latch on to your tongue or mouth pretty painfully.

I said worm because I've already eaten one. Really wasn't that bad.

Mosquito. I've swallowed enough of the bastards while mountain biking anyway. Its more annoying than gross...as if a little piece of broccoli flew into your mouth.

Honey pot ants are supposedly quite delicious. Like bees, they make a gooey sweet substance out of nectar. Unlike bees, they store it in their fat tummies, which can then be popped and the honey-like stuff inside eaten on toast.

I've always been interested to try fried grasshoppers - I hear they taste a little like cashews. I've also heard that scorpion tastes like shrimp...

Ant for me I guess...

But if there was a "None of the Above" answer, I'd DEFINATELY choose that one. :p

It's interesting that most of Western society consider insects and other arthropods for food as "icky" - yet we eat all kinds of weird crap like oysters, mussels, crabs, prawns, lobster, shrimp etc...

a tarantula is not an insect
neither is a scorpion

anyway, i wouldn't eat insects at all (as far as that's possible), since i don't eat animals at all (as far as possible, seems you eat a couple of spiders and insects while sleeping)

Thats quite a good point. Although in the east like japan they eat poisonous fish now that's crazy

Yep, they eat deep sea blowfish and just for the thrill of it. my dad tried some and it's like eating a bit of car tyre. course, it's so well prepared that eaing it is about the least dangerous thing there is, you're more at risk in a bad takeaway over here.

I wouldn't go in for this, but my uncle likes to travel around for a few months every couple of years and he once ate chocolate covered scorpion.
a type that wouldn't do much damage if it stung you, and the sharp bit is usually clipped off first.

i had mosquito as i'm in the rather unsavoury habit of munching whatever i squeeze out of myself, be it snot, blackhead, spot, thing from hair and whatever. it started when i was trying to show off to friends as how gross i could be to scare the icky pink girls.

well i once got a mosquito and i only knew because a friend said "that just landed on your head and it had legs!"

From the list there ..scorpion or ant.

Lol...yeah...why isn't there such an option??

I think I could try anyone of them...

Scorpion can be an ingredient for traditional Chinese medicine. I haven't tried it, but my dad got poisoned once......

Actually, I wonder why maggots aren't on the list. They are frequently eaten by some african tribes (ones that have the size f small sausages). Personally, I wouldn't eat any of them if I were to know.

Only because spiders and scorpions were mentioned: worms aren't insects, neither.

I chose ants. I suppose worms are mentioned because they resemble grubs, maggots and so on, I guess

Locusts are apparently very nice, but they aren't on the list so I chose Grasshopper - the poor man's locust.

Tarantulas and worms aren't insects: they haven't got six legs.

There's no 'None' option, but that's my vote anyway. I'm a vegetarian.

So I've been told, but haven't actually had the chance. Ant and fly eggs are also supposed to be tasty. I haven't eaten fly eggs, but I've served them :D

Lobsters are crustaceans (10 legs). Arachnids like spiders and scorpions have 8.

At least they're all arthropods. Except the worm.

Ants, Tarantulas and Praying Mantis are way too cool to eat.

I have (while riding my bike) "eaten" your average Mosquito and Housefly

I don't know about scorpions but I'm pretty sure they ought to have the most meat in them.

I don't know about Dragonflies, though. Catching them could be quite tricky.

Worms? Mmh. I would probably eat them but I haven't so far. Why should I?

Now, Cockroaches is a whole other subject. I wouldn't eat them at all. Nah! As interesting as they might be, I don't think they make good food (although there are some kinds of cockroach that apparently do).

Grasshoppers? Haven't eaten them (yet) but they supposedly make a nutritious meal. If I had to chose I'd eat those!

Even so, I think I'd crunch before swallowing, just to be sure I'm not sending live insects down my digestive system.

Oops. I could swear I remember reading somewhere that they're related, somehow. Meh, live 'n' learn.
