Well what would you rather be doing? Decomposing? If you're bored then go out and do something interesting.

Perhaps you should change you routine. Spend time helping others. Give back to the community. Spreading joy, especially in the name of the Lord, is euphoric, and I’m sure it will snap you out of your boredom.

For those who follow the works of Friedrich Nietzsche it can be said that following a religion to closely can be seen as having the same nihilistic tendencies of which this discussion is talking about. When people are only thinking about the next world they are not apprecating the one in front of them. It is a matter of having the "will to power" so as to make this life a better one.

I'm curious as to what you were planning for as the alternative. Death?
Well, if you don't believe in an afterlife, then life is the source of the time you get, and can't very well be a waste of it, as that would imply there being something else one could do.
If you do believe in an afterlife of some sort, it might be a bit different, but the general idea sort of still holds that life is your time, I would guess.

I have all the time in the world to be dead, so wasting it by living doesn't really bother me.

Well, yes life is pointless. It ultimately does nothing for a person. If we are as soulless as rocks then there is no reason to act differently than a rock. If we have souls then the goal is to find a spiritually fulfilling afterlife. No matter what this life is a waste that serves little point except to humble us.

You can do any of the following:
1) create a work of art that will outlive you
2) discover something, invent something, make science or technology progress
3) become wealthy and give some of your money to charities
4) make kids, raise them
5) get involved in politics and put your beliefs at work

Most people who think their like is worthless or useless are barely living. They're just doing the bare human minimum: work, eat/drink, sleep, watch TV, dream of the next vacation. While this combination of activities can be called "living", it's got no passion or long-time goals.

but yes life is pretty pointless, but that doesn't make it worthless

Well, pointless and worthless are often the same. After all if something lacks a point or reason, then why would it have worth? Ultimately by assigning a point a worth is assigned as well.

Is life a waste of time.
If you were not alive, what productive ways would you have to utilize all that wasted time?

Theoretically, if you don't manage to procreate and thus preserve some of your genetic code for the future, your life has been a waste of time. Have a nice day :D

Look, I don't have time to answer silly questions like that. I am right in the middle of knitting a new toaster-cozy out of belly-button lint.
