w00t 4 WoW

dont be alliance.... they are really annoying. they like swarming low lvl places with high levels... and camping lowbies bodies. i especially hate pallys. all they do is sheild. no other worthwhile skills.

i suggest doin horde and being a shaman or priest. they rule in pvp and a priest is good for parties.

hmm i was thinking about being a priest... but they look pretty weak in combat. then again i'm not much of a combat person...

thanks for the advice, but i'm being alliance anyways (i'm a goodie goodie ;))

I'm a Night Elf Druid on the Elune server. I started out with a Paladin,( which is what I had played in Beta ) but honestly, at first they were the most popular and powerful - then they got nerfed and are now basically used for resurrecting and healing..not- so -affectionately termed " Healadins " I retired mine at level 30 .

I stopped playing for about 4 months and have recently returned. Playing a Druid has been really fun - plenty of versatility.

I don't suggest being a priest - it is super hard to level from 1-20 - most people only see priests as healers for the group, and it's virtually impossible to solo play at lower levels.

I don't know a lot about the horde side - but I have heard that Shamans kick ass .

hmmm i figured it would be harder with a priest, and druids were my third choice. looks like i'm gonna have to think about this, then.

but then i kinda want to be human, and you can't be with druids. how are mages?

My sister plays a mage character . She seems to like it - getting the minions always helps since they can pull aggro for you in a fight.

Mages can only wear cloth armor so if you're hunting solo and your minion gets killed, well... it can be a long run back to your corpse.

I don't see a lot of Druids on my server, I'm one of the few in my guild. I like it because of the versatility in the build as you level up .
I specced in Balance and restoration, so I'm basically a mage with better armor. I can heal myself and others and also resurrect others during combat ( the only class that can do this - every other class has to wait for combat to be over ) If I had decided to go with a " Feral " spec, I would be able to use my animal forms as either a high damage tank ( ( Bear ) or a high damage per second w/ stealth ability ( Cat ).
I chose the Balance/ Restoration build so that I could do more damage from a distance, but still be able to whoop some tail with a melee weapon.

Night Elf wasn't my first choice , I wanted to play human - but it was worth it ( to me ) to be able to have so much versatility .

I would suggest that you go to the WoW website and read the forums for each class - it will help you decide . Also, you get a bunch of character slots per world - so you can try everything.

The highest ranking players in my guild are Generally Paladins ( though they have started to get bored and are making other characters), Rogues, and Hunters.

thanks, i've been to the WoW site and read the stuff on the different classes, but not the forums (damn garish colours if you ask me... give me Jolt any day ;))

did you form a guild with people you knew or just strangers, or what? i'm just curious as to how guilds work is all; especially as i have no RL friends who will (or can) join up with me :( *sobs*

My Guild is a carry-over from our Monarchy on Asheron's Call. We all played together for about 2 years, many of us tested WoW in Beta . We have about 30 members totalling 74 guild characters . We take on new members generally after one or more of our guild has hunted/quested with that person a few times and determined that they are a good match for us. ( easy- going, non-griefer, supportive of others.... we're big on loyalty - we're goody goody's ;) ) at that point we invite the person to join us . I really enjoy my guildies - it's a good group and makes gameplay that much better.

Don't play WoW it gets boring really fast unless you enjoy doing the same stuff for ever. The PvP is close to unexistent and boring (The battlegrounds are like a soccer game and changes nothing, never.)

The only thing that could hold you is if you like doing the same instances a few hundred times to get a better sword and then do it a few hundred times again.

Im going to play Daoc (Dark age of camelot) again with their new non-toa and non-buffbot server. It isnt a great game either but it certainly cant get worse than WoW.

If you sign on to Elune , add INYATI to your friends list , that's my druid. I'd be happy to help you out . I have a level 10 rogue ( Umlilo ) that I could have run around with you for a bit. :)

There really isn't a difference between horde and alliance, both tend to swarm lowbie zones and grief all the time. I'm alliance on Arthas, the horde is quite obnoxious there.

Also, pallys are a fantastic class. I can 1v1 any class but priests and usually win, and they're very versatile in the endgame instances as well.

The only high-pop server I'm aware of with more horde than alliance is Mal'Ganis, so if you want to be in the minority as alliance, go there.

Don't be a Paladin, they are NERFed so bad it isn't even funny. PvP with a Paladin?? LOL!

Now, in PvE, they will do very well - so if you don't want to PvP, then go for it.

Alot of the hardcore gamers went through WoW fast... Got bored and quit or made alts. All depends on the players gaming style. IMO it's more for a casual gamer or like you said someone who doesn't mind repeats. My Hunter has been at 55 for about a month. I purposely stopped leveling her.. because I didn't want to get to the end and be done. So I started trying out other toons. Gonna let my account lapse 'til I feel the urge to play again.

I played EQ for 3 years before I went to WoW... so I'm almost to the point of being burnt out on those type of games. I'm getting interested in RTS games now. Ordered Knights of Honor the other night after playing the demo. It seems like it's gonna be pretty cool. I hope it's a challenge.

Got boring really fast. All quests are basically the same thing. It's really hard to solo, and the game is extremley buggy(theres been a bug for about a month now that has prevented me from playing).

yay for RTS! my forte :D

thanks for all the advice, peeps:)
i should also say that i am, increasingly, a casual gamer (didn't used to be but meh), and also i've never played a single MMORPG in my life - online play is something totally alien to me... so i suppose i'll just get a kick out of playing with real people for a change :p

I soloed all the way through WoW..always killing mobs at least my level and it wasn't difficult (I was usually outside, rarely went into dungeons). It was one of the things I really enjoyed about the game. I only grouped sometimes in instances and on a few raids with friends to socialize and get a certain drop. Some classes are easier for solo play....maybe. Alot depends on the player.. Some people can play anything and be good at it.. others are better at playing a caster then a melee for example. But I don't think there is a class in WoW that couldn't be soloed to 60... with ease(once you know what you are doing and are familiar with the game). It's just so playable. WoW is waay more solo/casual gamer friendly than Everquest (The only other mmorpg I've played). I haven't played wow in a week or 2 now.. but the game was running smoothly when I was playing.. on Uther. Every once in a while I'd hear people saying they fell off a boat.. and I experienced some loot laag a few times.. but they pretty much fixed that problem from what I could tell. Being as new a game as it is. I think Blizzard is doing a great job.

Buggy or not .. sounds like you don't really dig the game. No need in wasting money on something you don't enjoy.

P.S. Wasn't putting EQ down in anyway.... that is the game im addicted to! Lol
But .. they are different.

I'm getting better at the RTS im learning atm. I play as Highlands.. spend most my time going in saving smaller less powerful countries from getting ran over by Germany, Fatamids, France, Hungary or whomever.. and tryin to manipulate countries to make peace with one another.
I give most my money away.. because I haven't learnt how to control inflation, unless I go out and conquer more territories.
Germany jumped on my ally Lothian.. so I went in and started whooping them.. they got tired of war and offered peace. Then everyone started jumping on Germany.. so I started taking up for them. I have conquered land and given it to Ulster and Lothian. Lothian has grown strong.. but I keep having to go in and help Ulster. As soon as I hand a province over to them, they lose it.. even though I give them lots of money to build stuff with.. (they seem to not build a military but all the money goes poof.. maybe they are drinking it lol)..and the only way I can help them is by guarding the province with my troops. I can't go in and manipulate anything in the province itself. Would be cool if I was able to do that. Vassalage doesn't give me any power to help them build a military or anything either.. only gives me more money to give away.
Munster and Brittany are always attacking me.. even though I am so much more powerful than they are. I can't peace with them.. unless I dishonor my Alliance Pact with Lothian. So far Lothian has always been there for me when I needed them.. plus I helped them grow into the power they are.
One downside to this game imo.. is being able to only have 7 members on your royal court. But I've read on the game forums where players are able to go out and conquer most of Europe while only having 2 or 3 Marshall's(army). I tried that.. and it didn't work.. I now have 5 Marshall's, 1 Merchant and one space open for when I capture a prisoner. I got a lot to learn I guess.

Bah. My brother’s had WoW for weeks, I wish I could play, but my computer is autistic. It can’t communicate with servers or something, and using his pc is not an option, trust me.
