exactly the same here. wide ranging taste in rock (used to be mostly metal), and i like jazz. recently getting into classical a bit, and tolerating hip-hop (a bit). also kinda like drum n bass, too...

edit: oh yeah and blues :)

The Ramones (I Wanna Live)
Syniks

I think there is one label that carries my stuff....

Currently listening to Boot Party's Working Class Thug.

I still like Oi!

Rock (classic, punk, modern, etc.), Ska, Jazz (classic and Modern), blues, some hip-hop, Metal (Death, Thrash, Power), Classical.

Yeah, I think that covers it.

Both Layla's are awesome songs, though my favorite is 'London Calling'.

Rock is too broad a category for me to vote for it, even though all of my favorite bands fall under that unimaginably broad category.

I guess I forgot to mention I love Ska and listen to a lot of Punk as well.

Ramones were brilliant. White Riot isn't bad at all, but Clash isn't really my cup of homebrewed vodka.

How about Laurel Aitkin, Sham69, The Specials & The Business? Any of you know/like?

Glen Matlock and the Philistines (Don't You Wish That You Were On Something)

No, for The Ramones, it's 'I Wanna Live' or, cliche-er, 'Blitzkrieg Bop'.

Notice I did say is ;)

Anyway, the best Ramones songs, in order, is:
Too Tough To Die
Psycho Therapy
I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend
Hey Daddy-o (or whatever the fuck it's called)

There's only one really good Sex Pistols song (well I think so anyway):
Friggin' in The Riggin'

Hüsker Dü isn't much better than SP in my opinion, but they can play. I guess that's always good.

Still, Oi! Bands blows most of the old '77 stuff away.
If you guys dig the old UK 82' scene, check out
Disorder (this band kicks so much ass it's unbelievable)
External Menace
The 4 Skins
Abrasive Wheels
The Adicts
Angelic Upstarts
Anti NoWhere League
The Blitz
The Cockney Rejects
.... Whew, this could become a long list! I think I better stop now. The old UK 82' bands are much heavier and faster than the 77' stuff. Like a cross between the 77' sound, NYHC and Oi! Not bad at all.

I like pretty much anything except country. So I like Metallica, the Beach Boys, Blink 182, and Relient K. I also really like Gregorian chant and Enya, and Celtic music in general. So, yeah. Pretty much everything. Although come to think of it, I'm not really into much hip-hop. Although it's not all bad. I even heard a country song the other day I actually kind of like.

I would vote for rock, but that encompasses so many of these "sub-genres" that its really difficult.

The band I listen to is bluesy rock mixed in with punk. That's as specific as I can get (short of naming the band).

I like music that ranges from Rock, (primarily crust, emo and hardcore, but a wide range of it), Electronica, (mostly industrial and gabber, detroit techno and jungle too) orchestral music, jazz, noise, ska, funk and I must admit an undying (and recently aquired)love for gangsta rap. :D

Rock is my favorite genre. That's hard rock, punk, metal, whatever. Just as long as it isn't soft rock. *Cringes in pain.*
I also like SOME R&B and hip-hop.
I will listen to very specific pop subgenres, artists, and songs, but if it gets to bubblegummy, I will turn my nose up in disgust.
I also like reggae, reggaeton, and classical, but only when I'm in the mood for it.

I tend to avoid religious music, unless it is especially good.

I HATE 99.9% of all country, bluegrass, etc., especially country posing as rock. *Shudders.*

Hahaha, I'm the same way. It takes a really good song to get me into a band I've never heard before.

I really do recommend Husker Du. Their music stands the test of time... It's still as fresh as it was back in the 80's. Listen to "Newest Industry" and "Celebrated Summer", and you'll see what I mean.

I like a genre that's hard to define. Find some folk, alt.country, surf music, psychedelic rock. Mix it together, shake it, ignite... voila!

Bands: Mojave 3, Neil Halstead, Wilco (but only the late albums)

I also like strange mixed styles, such as Dread Zeppelin (some Led Zeppelin songs, a Elvis impersonator, and a Jamaïcan reggae band. Wow.)

Oh, and add some shoegazer (ambiant pop) music from the 1990s.

Bands: Lush (best show ever!!!), Curve, Slowdive, Auburn Lull, ...

NO one surpasses the power of Weird Al!

Heh. A funny thing happened back when I was in 1st grade... It was such a boring day, and when the bell rang, I was very glad. I rushed out into the hall with everyone else, and I ended up next to my friend (he was three years older than me, and his class was in a different building... weird). Anyway, he started singing "Like A Surgeon". Everyone around him started cracking up.

Good stuff.
