This is a question for Cannot think of a name but people that know about this stuff are free to reply also.

I need about 20 pistols, 2 shotguns, 2 assault type rifles and 4 revolvers for an indie film I am making and was wondering if you could help me.
The ammunition must fire in a way that seems real...smoke, flash from gun barrels, spent ammo must shoot out of guns after fire etc.

Do you know about a company that sells these kinds of props?

P.S. The guns MUST NOT be able to fire real ammunition.

You (any good machine shop) can build 9mm blank, blowback-operated, fully automatic submachine guns for almost nothing. (looks great on film) Visit my Synic Space (http://spaces.msn.com/members/Syniks/PersonalSpace.aspx) and look at the Luty Freedom Kit. Substitute the full-dimension 9mm barrel for one with an aprox .22cal bore (except in the "chamber" and at the muzzle) and there should be sufficient back-pressure to operate it. Buy the plans/book from Palladin Press.

As long as any particular pistol does not need to be seen actually firing (use cut aways) you can have one or two blank-guns and have the rest of your pieces be plastic models.

Thank You!

All the guns I listed need to be able to fire.Simultaneously? WHere you can't cut-away and swap a firing prop for a non-firing plastic prop before cutting back? (that's a lot of guns firing at the same time in the same shot...) Basic Filmography/directing 101 says you should not really need more than 4 or 5 "live" props per shootout shot/scene.

However, what you ask is more difficult, but not impossible.

Meta search on "blank guns" or "prop guns" or "non-firing replica guns". Order some. (here's one LINK (http://www.airgundepot.com/startergunsindex.html))

Find a copy of "Guns & Ammo" or some other USian gun magazine and look in the classifieds for non-firing replica guns.

Order a copy of "Shotgun News" and look for the same stuff.

Visit New York City and buy real guns from the Crack Dealers, then plug the barrels with gas pass-through plugs and bring them back as "props". Should cost you no more than US $50 to US $100 each. We'll be glad you did. :D

:D All in one shot??? No but I would like to see that. It's a war film and I need a lot of guns but most are rubber and only a few fire. I also need some of the guns (Shotguns, half the pistols and 2 of the revolvers) for a film my friend is working on and we shoot at the same time and thats why I need so many guns-we dont have time to go back and forth getting the same weapons.

Syniks just gave the best advice on this I can imagine, but my film making prowess is sub-amateur at best. I tend to focus on people stories. Ambitious move doing a war film. Be sure to give us all free tickets when you submit it to Cannes. :D
