What do you want to be when you grow up?

For those of you who are already all grown up, what did you want to be when you contemplated this quesiton in your childhood/youth/entire life...

This is inspired by the career counselling appointment I have tomorrow morning, I get to talk about all this stuff. Although I haven't touched the test results since I had the group meetings for it... oops.

Sence I was three I wanted to be a pilot.

Now I not only am a pilot, but I train people to become pilots.

Yes, it is as much fun as I had envisioned it to be. :)

Taller?
Sorry, just had to go with the obvious first. My ambitions ran a rather illegal gambit that went from Columbian drug lord to South American arms dealer to African Mercenary. I was one screwed up kid, and wasted my child hood studying ballistics and the most efficient way to dispose of corpses.

Yes, that assumption is there... perhaps "what do you want to do with your life?" would have been a better question, but then it makes for a less interesting title.

Oooh! Well, in that case, I want to be a junkie.

Sorry, Supreme Dictator of the world is already taken by me.

Everyone calls me that. It's my "official" title.
So, now my goal is to have fun. And perhaps invade some small country for the stupidest reason. However, I have yet to think of such a reason.

What better place to declare your war on the internet than on the internet itself?

I also would like to found a small nation here in the middle of California. See what happens.

My collaborator wants to start refering to us as 'narrative artists,' which sounds a little hoi di toi di to me, but I haven't come up with something better. The only narrative form we don't write for is prose and poetry, and even then he does that, it's just me who doesn't.

So, narrative artist is what I'll say. I want to tell stories in the medium that seems appropriate to each story individually. Unless it's prose or poetry, then it's all on my collaborator.

Right now, though, I just want a frickin' place to live. In two days I'll be homeless. I'm just finished with college-mind you something I did so I wouldn't be homeless again-and I haven't found a place to stay. Two freakin' days. I almost want to cry. What was the point? (Actually, I know the point, and as soon as I find stable ground it will pay out, but right now I'm pissed.)

Didn't we already have this thread few days ago?

Well, when I was growing up, I wanted to be a missionary doctor. Or at least a doctor and travel around helping people. Then I hit highschool and the ugly fact dawn on me that I'm not very academic.

So the dream... Ah screw it. I'm going to make money and be super rich, and support doctors to poor countries. :)

Yes. A nice quiet position as Secretary of Defense. Helping declare wars here and there. Sending troops around the world, shuffling forces around.

Shuttling tax money. Retiring good.

Yep. It's the life! :D

I will never be all grown up!

As for what I wanted to be earlier in the process of growing up, at one point or another the list included Broadway star, paleontologist, English professor, singer/songwriter, and writer, as well as half a dozen other things. At the moment, I'm a Starving Artist of the writing variety (who's done some professional singing work, but not nearly enough to make a living off of). Except for the starving part, it's not too bad.

I wanted to be a chainsaw weilding version of Peter Pan.

Now I just want to be reincarnated as an Ogre.

Seriously tho, I wanted to become a marine biologist. I realised education doesn't make me happy back when I was 14-15 years old, so I changed my goals accordingly.
Now I do construction work mostly (although I've done a lot of things). Point is, I work 6-8 months a year and spend my money wisely. The rest of the time I do whatever I feel like. Travelling, writing, painting, political activism, volenteer work..
I love my life :)

An expatriate living off the coast of Italy. Or perhaps a well-read book-keeper of an independent book store would suit me as well...

When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I used to "operate" on my stuffed animals, and went as far as shearing their "fur" with dull scissors. Later on, I wanted to be an archaeologist, international lawyer, travel writer, and so on...
