Now we have seen misbehaving athletes before. But this is just ridiculous. When are these overpaid spoiled kids going to learn? Anyone else think that some of these a**holes need to be going to jail for this kind of behavior?

Is there such a thing as being overpaid in a capitalist market?

Yes. In fact, even the most hard core free marketeers would agree that it is entirely possible to be overpaid in a capitalist market. The assumption that people generally make intellegent deciscions does not, in any way, exclude the possibility that individuals will, at times, act irrationally.

i'm from texas and even i want to see KR prosecuted, hell, i think he needs to be fired (or fined heavily, not a measily 5k) I hope he gets what's coming to him from the cameraman.

So there are capitalists who believe that the government should intervene and place a salary cap on labour? If this is so could you please provide examples?

This guys a douche bag, regardless of what he is paid.

If I assaulted a random person in the street in this manner, I would be arrested for it.

He's a freaking baseball player. A virtually needless member of society. Is someone telling him that he is really important and he can act like a dick?

F him. He needs to have a seriously heavy fine extracted from his ass-it has to hurt. Maybe suspension WITHOUT pay for a significant time. Replace any damages and medical bills out of his own pocket. Immediately.

Anger issues..fuck him. Hes a base ball player. He makes an insane salary to PLAY A GAME. What the hell is he so mad about?

Guys like this exist in every stratum of the socio-economic spectrum. (Wow that sounded pseudointellectual)

I've met plenty of blue collar guys and businessmen who are prone to act this way. It's not confined strictly to athletes.

This is true. I don't why he did it. I know he's gonna have to pay damages to the cameraman, but he should pay damages for the camera too. Now, if lets say, beer was dumped on him by the cameraman, then sure he could attack him Sheffield-style. Even, though I believe Sheffield is a c**ksucker. (Heh, I'm Boston-born, what do you expect?)

Yes, being overpaid in a capitalist society is true. Just look at Bill Gates. ;) I mean it's acclumated net worth, but still, if your the richest man in the world you must be overpaid. As opposed to Steve Jobs, Larry & Sergey and Warren Buffet.

Heh, what about about these overpaid celebrities and when they do this to cameramen, I mean sure, most of them are paparaazis, but I remember that Bjork just went nuts on a television reporter and who can't remember the whole Rusell Crowe thing this month. Though, maybe they do this to get attention... because most celebrities are c**ksucking camerawhores...like Tom Cruise... Mr. Psychairty sucks and I'm part of a psuedo-religion and attacked Orpah and there is no such thing a chemical imbalance. Tom is that the beliefs of Scientolgists?

Is that your opinion or is there actually a capitalist doctrine that supports this claim?

He should have been tossed for the season like Ron Artest was in basketball. The only thing I can say is Kenny Rogers isn't going to be remembered for anything more than this when his long career is finally over. ESPN has been replaying the incident over and over. They even had the poor taste to make a TOP 10 all time CAMERA incidents segment. Such is American media these days. :(

I wonder what the Texas fans think about this. He probably would have played in the All-Star game.

Nobody knows the story on why this happened really. Logically a person that is 40 years old probably has had lots of experence in the league and would know how to behave.

We should all know the media works strongly to protect their own. Almost like a union you could say. Which is exactly why ESPN is running this over and over along with a segmite showing his blowups in other games (obviously to make you become bias against him, to make you think hes a loose cannon), because clearly by what you see the player is at fault....but there is this part of me that thinks we never really get the whole story. It is totally illogical that a guy with this much experence is just going to attack a guy for no reason what so ever.

Of course we all know what will happen the camera man will sue for some ungodly amount saying hes been emotionally tramatized or has had some massive pain and suffering from being pushed on his ass and getting a bruise on it.

sad thing is we will never know the real story.

I believe Kenny Rogers has a history of going nuclear on reporters. This isn't an isolated incident.

Athletes are, more than many groups, assholes. Not that being an athlete makes you a dick, mind you, but the idea of competition and in some cases beating on other people appeals to the assholes more than, say, working at a law firm.

With the grotesque salaries of professional athletes, you now turn a bunch of assholes into a bunch of assholes with power.

Those two things don't mix very well.

"Kenny is having anger issues right now," Rangers general manager John Hart said. "I don't know what's going on inside. We're responding to something that's very unusual."
Yes he is......

He didn't beat-up a cameraman. Has anyone here actually seen the video? He pushed the camera off his shoulder and kicked it.
