Well, Walmart IS hard on small stores. Lake Placid, NY denied them access, largely because of the percieved effect on small businesses and changing the character of the community.
I'm all for local jurisdiction on these matters.

Go Vancouver. My little town has been rejecting the big box outlets for a while now and we've been better off for it. It's good to see that the 'escape' city (if Canada would have me and it didn't take soooo much $%(*()#$*#%^ money) holds to that as well.
