Are any of you fans of the old FOX tv show Millenium? I've recently re-discovered the show since it came out on DVD. Man that was a good show. How come nobody makes dark, moody, violent and thought provoking TV like that anymore?

Because the TV jerkoffs would rather be making the next Big Brother/Real World/American Idol.

BRING BACK FARSCAPE! :p

Millennium was a pretty awesome show, though I never saw too many episodes sadly.

Lance Henrikson is practically God.

Volumes 1 and 2 are out. Volume 3 out here in the next couple months.
That show most certainly does rock. Sad part is my fiancee, not formerly as associated with the series as m'self, asked if it has a happy ending.
And on a completely different level (other than creator obviously) i recently procured The Lone Gunmen series and watched the pilot again. Disturbing for the timing and nature.

Fox goes through shows like babies with a stomach virus go through diapers and their parents' clean shirts.

I hate it. The average life-span of a series on Fox is like half a season...

Grrr..they cancelled Family Guy and Futurama; possibly two of the greatest cartoons/comedies ever made.

They've only redeemed themselves a little by bringing Family Guy back on the air...

Hell yeah! S:AaB was probably the worst cancellation EVER. :( It was a truly awesome show.

At least we have Babylon 5, though. A truly epic tale, beautifully told, and which was seen through to the end.

I just hope they're smart enough to keep House around for a while, that show is great, wish I had a doctor as totally awesome and cynical and witty and hopped up on pain killers as he is...

Yeah, House is one awesome show. I'm glad we're getting it here in England (I don't think there's too much risk of it being pulled, it seems to be doing well in ratings.). I think HBO puts out some of the best stuff on TV, so it seems a subscription system can work far better than an commercial-based one, but there's room for both.

I also truly hope that Firefly is brought back. It was a travesty that it was pulled.

It's on HBO now. Check out Deadwood or Band of Brothers that fits the bill with dark and thought provoking. Look at Curb Your Enthusiasm for comedy, its not exactly dark, but it's intelligent and hilarious.

To describe Fox's brainless approach to critically acclaimed and non-vapid (ie "reality TV") shows, here's a quote from Jon Lovitz when The Critic was cancelled:

"FOX. They should have spelled it with a U!"

Millenium was a great show. It's a crying shame it got cancelled before it's time. It was a FAR better show than X-Files, IMHO...

Firefly is another example of a great show prematurely cancelled...

Sci fi is picking it up and running it properly, cable is picking up teh ball every time fox drops it, which is alot. Now if sci fi will pick up dark angel...

I remember it.

And for those complaning about Fox - just be glad it's Fox in the US you have. Fox Japan changes their schdule around about once every two weeks at random. And since they show sydicated programs, they screw around with the order as well.

There's a petition online to try to get it released on DVD. I don't remember the link to it though. Also if you go to Amazon you can submit your email to be notified when it's released. That makes me think that it may be out on DVD soon.
