So, let's see, two gay men have been living together for a year, minding there own buisness, mowing the lawn, eating breakfast, and going for trips down to the store for juice. But now, they get to wear little medal rings on their fingers. HOLY SHIT! The country will surely be in chaos! Evil will rampage in the streets. Next time they mow the grass, that ring might glint you in the eye! Holy crap, the entire stucture of human life and marrige will break down. LOOK OUT THE WINDOW NORTHEN AMERICANS, you can SMELL to corruption in the streets as the moral fibers break down. RIOTING, DEATH, DRUGS! AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Oh wait, no, everything will be the same. They'll still live together like before, go to the same store every tuesday, and people will continue to go to work, get home, watch TV, and mind their own buisness, ignoring them. Except now they are legaly recognized as married. Oh no.

all those gay boys out there beat out the hellfires with their pets that they have sex with because beastiality is a bi-product of gayness and so is pedophilia so they also cut open the children that they molest to quell the flames.

Yeah, I think the last paragraph just about sums up your average Canadians take on the Gay Marriage situation.

I for one applaud Canada for legalizing gay marriage. At least THEIR government isn't full of ignorant right-wing Christans.

Yet another reason why I want to move to Canada. :)

Look smart asses, Hell has a two week delay for mail to get through their system, and then order forms for hellfire can take as long as a month to fill out. After that, you have shipping and distribution. It's all a big mess I tell you. BUT we will do our level best to get your order through as quickly as possible. Complaining about it, however, isn't going to get this done one moment sooner.

Until then I suggest that Canadians make do with light trashcans on fire.
WARNING: Burning trashcans attract people in fingerless gloves and ratty coats. Sometimes these people may be hobos, other times they are merely the few remaining surivivors of an Apocalyptic type disaster

It's not a flame or a personal attacks or a civil rights violation, as long as it's against Christians. Somehow, somewhere it was decided only they are fair game for criticism.

America has resisted gay marriage. So where is our retrograde back to 16th century puritanism we've heard about?

Was that a stereotype? Wow, I need to get withdrawn in social groups that have only vague speculations about other social groups to base their opinions on more often.

Okay? Yes? No? I'm rather confused, so I think I'll just rattle off some quick stock responses here and you can pick which ever one suits best.

PLEASE PEOPLE, I BEG, JUST USE SOME DAMN PUNCTUATION!!! I don't ask much, you don't even have to go definite and use a period, just a comma every once and a while.

It's not hard, it makes typing a hell of a lot less painful, and best of all, readable for other people.

A good friend of mine is a Canadian citizen.

The plan is, if I have to, we go up to Canada, and get married. After about a week, we get divorced.

Why?

Loophole in the Canadian legal code gives me citizenship. ^^

Thus, I can LEGALLY FLEE TO CANADA if the wankers get worse and more power than they do now.

...vacation to meet my Ex's family, officer. Dodging the draft? Nah, wanted to get back in touch with members of the family I did get along with...

Not really.
You can even make it faster if you immigrate in Quebec (because we have a different, faster process). I'm really an expert in Canadian immigration. I have helped people coming from Mauritius, France and Belgium with their process. My brother-in-law is also about to begin his immigration process.
If you come from a friendly country AND have any diploma, it'll take you 1-2 years. Sometimes it's faster. If you happen to speak French, even a little, try Quebec, you can bring the process down to 8-12 months if you're lucky.
You become RP (Permanent Resident) and after 2-3 more years you can get your citizenship. As a RP, you benefit from ALL Canadian civil rights.
You can also get a PVT (Work / Vacation Permit) if you're young and you want to stay in Quebec for less than a year. It allows you to work, study or travel for an extended period.

If you don't screw up your immigration interview, the failure rate is very low.
