I haven't seen a good Max Barry/mod conspiracy thread for some time now. I figured now would be a good time to resurrect the old feeling of mystery.

Who do you think Max Barry is?

I'm privvy to the old myth that Max is, in actuallity, [violet], and only made people refer to [v] as "she" to hide his identity. To further add to the conspiracy, I think that Max is also Myrth...M for Max, M for Myrth...work with me here! He didn't actually quit, he just was further hiding his identity. And he's hiding his identity because he's actually an alien! That the government did weird experiments on and mutated! And now he's on the run but he's working for the the secret Soviet government of Russia!

So yeah, let the madness of conspiracy theories being.

And mods, this isn't a flamebait, or a troll, or anything like that. Sure, it's spam, but it's harmless so give me a break and don't lock it or whatever.

I love it when people make him sound completely moronic like my last statement. He's smart enough to write a book but he can't speak English well. Damn good editor I suppose.

* I appear to be just a regular player, and Max stated that he is a regular player as well in one of those IRC interviews.

* I am one of those grammar fiends.

* I never denied their allegations, and usually put a wink at the end of each cryptic post.

I think Max Barry is everyone on NationStates, he can control every nation from his supermod status, and he doesn't even have a home nation. he just logs in with his username and it takes him straight to his control panel.

It's an old NS past-time. Conspiracies and whatnot, Forum 7...Max is generally in there somewhere because no one knows what nation he's supposed to be, and the mods are generally thrown in there too because no one knows what the hell goes on behind the scenes with them. So yeah, conspiracies. :D

I agree with Czardas theory, that Max could have a group name, or have many nations. Max could also have a nonposting person who may have modlike powers but no distinction.

I trust you:) but Max Barry uses the variations of "color" and "recognize" in Jennifer Government. And I never referred to those British vs. American spellings when saying the book had errors:)

He set up NationStates when his prime personality was under control, then the rest took over and just made multiple nations. Of course, in order to argue with 'himself', Max had to have several hundred arms grafted onto his body (incidentally this was done by three of his personalities - a serious neurosurgeon, a wisecracking anaesthetist and a socially inept general surgeon who has trouble with girls and often gets into cerazy situations). Once he gets bored of a certain personality, he 'bans' it from his mind. Also, Max is richer than God and lives on a spacestation, which is why he can afford to be so nuts.
