Alright, I have a strange question but I can't seem to find an answer on it anywhere. So for the hell of it, I'll ask yall with the hopes that maybe someone has an answer for me.

If someone had an mrsa staph infection on their leg, could staph be transmitted through kissing?

I am curious. Do you know?

I dont think so.... as a wrestler I see kids get staph infections all of the time from the dirty mats...but as I go to an all-boys Catholic school I havent kissed any of them...

Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) skin infections are almost always spread by means of either contact between an infected person and another person with some sort of open wound, skin abrasion, etc. OR by contact to an open wound, skin abrasion, etc., with something recently used by someone with a staph infection.

The only way I can think of that staph could be spread by kissing is if one person had an open cut, sore, etc., on their lips or in their mouth, and kissed another person with a smiliar open cut, sore, etc., in their mouth. Or if the uninfected person used their toothbrush.

My advice: if you have any doubts at all about this, don't kiss them. :)

@ Avia Takes Two: You're welcome. (I've worked as a paramedic and regular "standard" hygiene usually is enough. He oughta put a bandage or band-aid on it when you're having a "closer encounter", though. Take care :)

id make sure the infection was thoroughly covered with a really good bandage. kissing tends to lead to wriggling and rubbing.
