What's your favourite cult movie?
In this thread I want you to share your favourite cult movie - by cult movie I simply mean some kinda obscure movie you just love, not because it's good or bad or well made or poorly made, but just because you love it and can't seem to get enough of it! I can give a reason or not, it's up to you.
I have a lot of less known movies I love but my absolute favourite is:
Big Trouble in Little China
Although I must add that one of the reasons I love this movie is because of its title translation in Portugal (where I'm from - and its just the title, we watch non-portuguese films only with the subtitles) - but anyway, the portuguese title is "As Aventuras de Jack Burton nas Garras do Mandarim", which in english tranlates kinda like "The Adventures of Jack Burton in the Claws of the Mandarin" - sweet!
But anyway, that's MY cult movie - what's yours?

The Footrot Flats movie.
It went to various places over seas, but I don't think it made it to the US. They couldn't understand the New Zealand accent and wanted to dub over it.

The movies I have watched the most (because I just can't get enough of'em) are:
1) Pulp Fiction (35+ times English, 5+ times German) (among other QT-movies)
2) Plat00n (20+ times English, 10+ times German - works wonders when I'm in a bad mood. Catharsis?)
3) Clint Eastwood Westerns (Dollars & Once upon, Pale Rider etc.)
4) Jui kuen (Drunken Master) (and the 2nd part) (among other Easterns)
5) The Holy Trilogy (StarWars!)
6) Any "good" "movie" starring "actress" Alicia Rio :fluffle: ( :D )
But there is so much more...
Yeah, like all those with Jay & Silent Bob in'em (Thanks Pure Metal!)

Somehow I have trouble classifying any blockbusters or big name films (as on your list) as cult films. They are too mainstream. Especially Star Wars.
Try something like:
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Repo Man
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (the cult film everyone knows, but few have actually seen, at least in my experience)
The Warriors
(The later is my fave cult film. It's a re-do of Xenophon's Anabasis as a rumble-street-gang peice set in NYC.

BTiLC is a good one.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
They Live is up there as well.

Uhm, hello? According to "In this thread I want you to share your favourite cult movie - by cult movie I simply mean some kinda obscure movie you just love, not because it's good or bad or well made or poorly made, but just because you love it and can't seem to get enough of it! Star Wars not being cult?!? Are you out of your mind?!?!?!?!? Just because GL brought them back and all those new SW-fans are popping up it doesn't mean it changed a bit of its cult status amongst veteran fans! Next time you meet StarWars geeknerds you tell'em they're way too mainstream... :p
And I absolutely scorn that terrible TRHPS. Bah. Ooh. Just thinking about it makes me wanna smash s.th.! (Bad enough all those freaks play the time warp at parties where I wanna listen to screaming guitars!) The Tomatoes are funny, but not cult with me.

Until the beginning of last year when I visited my sister in California I hadn't had a chance to watch any of those. Then I found a huge stack of'em in the video-place, rented them all and watched them one after another...
(I didn't wanna watch'em dubbed in German - you just don't do that to classics!)

The problem I had with that list wasn't quality, but obscurity. As I said above, I have a hard time classifying blockbusters as cult. Pulp Fiction, Platoon, and Star Wars are hardly obscure. They were major studio works. Plus, the fan base is simply too big. And yes, SW does have a uber-geek following almost as bad as ST. But it simply can't qualify as cult because of it's fame. (RHPS and a few others might be considered to have gone beyond cult into mainstream, being victems of their own fame.)
Does the big lebowski count as a cult film?

Princess Bride: It was so coll with two storylines. the Grandpa and his kid. And the the swashbuckling main story. It wasn't a usual tale either.
Army of Darknes. Bruce Campbell is such a great actor I guess. I loved him in Spider Man, and a few other movies. I loved the quotes, " Good, bad, I'm the guy wit the gun". And his coughing to get book.
The Life of Brian, Dawn of the Dead, or possibly Army of Darkness.
