I saw a guy at Shoprite who was dressed completely in black and had a large cross necklace. What is he? I guessed an EO bishop or priest. Also, what are the different color ranks?

That can't be. He had a cape-like thing. He was some sort of minister. And Goths don't wear crosses.
Goth.
I've never seen a priest go around dressed in his vestments, and they are never all black.

I don't think it was a bishop, usually only Bishops wear those huge crosses(called pectorals) though. He was either a bishop or maybe some sort of Orthodox priest. The cape, if memory serves, is called a cope and bishops only wear those too, but I don't think bishops dress in black.
Perhaps he was a third-order priest of the Benedictines, they wear black and dress differently than the average priest.
