I disagree that GTA: SA isn't meant for people under 16
Here I am, 14, playing this game, and I'm fine.
I was told to start a new topic to say that.
Here it is.
I think I wtf'd the original author from my sheer speed.

Video Games causing violence is BS. There's no evidence to support such claims, the crap media just wants to find somebody to blame and the gaming industry being relatively new is an easy target. I gave GTA:SA as a birthday gift to my 13 year old cousin, I don't see him going on a murderous rampage through the streets of LA.

Well I guess it depends on a persons maturity.

Sure. You're okay now. But five years from now when you are peeling the skin off prostitutes and making funny hats, people are going to say, "He played a lot of GTA:SA". :p

It took you about ten minutes :P
Anyway, that was a general statement. I should have been clearer.
I wouldnt recommend it to MOST people under 16.

I can see the ESRB ratings now...

I was always under the impression that it wasn’t the violence that made it so reviled, but the “adult situations and themes” to quote ESRB.

Well, many parents would like to wrap their children in some form of life-resistant shield. Although most probably end up doing a decent job of creating a balance, still ratings are of course for the people who care not those who will disregard them anyway. Personally I do not think that exposure to violence is the best thing for a child, although it should not be entirely suppressed still immersing yourself in anything leads to an increased frequency of thoughts of that nature.
I was killing people long before I played any GTA games.

to paraphrase david cross "I forget, what violent video game did hitler play? and what rock band did that sniper listen to?"
