Yes, another video game topic :P
So, anybody played it?
I realize that it is a cheap ripoff of the Total War games, but I personaly like this period of history, and a game based around it is heaven for me :)
The game itself needs a few tweaks, IE: The annoying bit where a unit of militia can defeat even your best troops on a 1:1 basis, meaning that you need at least two units to every militia fielded by your opponent.
And of course, cavalry can own even more than Militia, in some cases. And the over-use of bayonette charges.
Basicaly if you buy this game looking for accuracy...well, your going to be dissapointed.
If you bought this game for a good time, your going to have fun. The politics can be a bit wierd, and the campaign starts out slow, but once you get into it, its fun.
The addition of naval combat was a good idea, although badly executed. If youve played it, you know what I mean. Usualy I just let the computer resolve naval engagements by itself.
The visuals are pretty nice. Your infantry will line up, load (rather quickly, for the 19th century :)) and fire their weapons with a charecteristic cloud of smoke. The models arent anything special, theyre a bit worse than Rome: Total War's, but not horrible.
All in all, this game will be great if Pyro/Eidos puts a bit of effort into the patch.
On another note, somebody out there is making a Napoleonic mod for Rome: Total War, which looks great. Beter than IG, in fact :)
