For the record, I'm not one. Just curious.
Discuss.

Not really. However, had I the choice to become the leader of a nation/continent/planet, you can bet it would be an authoritarian empire.

There's Yupaenu, if s/he's ever online (he I think...I associate authoritarianism with males...wonder why. ;))

Otherwise, everyone here is either left-wing or liberal. With a few odd conservatives thrown in for variety. NS General is rather generic.

Yes, there are.Can you name any names?

I know there are a few fascists here and they would certainly qualify as self-proclaimed authoritarians. I see threads about "Are you a fellow fascist" occasionally.

Well… I'm probably a little more authoritarian than most people, but I wouldn't class myself as a proper authoritarian.

Government's place is in the bedroom. :) ;)

i know of about five, thought i don't remember all their names. me, the one who always posts threads promoting people to join the american fascist party and the person that always agrees with that person, the person who posted just above me, and there was one other person who i've only seen once, his name started with j though and he had a very high post count.

EDIT: i also think that harlesburg is one, but i'm not shure.

I don't understand why anyone would want to be authoritarian. Why would people willingly give up their political and social freedoms?

Is it fear? Are they afraid of responsibility? Afraid of their "enemies"?

Tsk...

They always try and mask it under the guise of "freedom"

Well, I think that I am a totalitarian, a form of authoritarianism I believe. I guess that counts, after all I do believe that thoughts are dangerous things that if not controlled lead to actions, which may be good or bad based on the thought.

complete progress. individual doesn't matter, the whole does. survival of the species, not the individual. unity. reward the hardest working and don't give the weak or lazy what they don't deserve. morality, nature. equality. there's more reasons but that's the most important. these are the reasons why i'm for totalitarianism, not shure about the others though.

also, in totalitarianism, if your afraid, you're considered weak, if you're not responsible, you're lazy, and it's either you get your enemy or your enemy will get you. one of you two has to be better than the other.

equality
Read Harrison Bergeron and you'll realize that equality is oppressive after a while

How can you have enemies in a totalitarian system, considering that everybody is "equalized" *coughoppressedcough* to the same level?

haven't read it and don't know what it is, but i don't mean all people at the same level all the time, only that they start out equal by removing all links to their ancestors status, such as all money from inheritance is taken by the government, and everyone is allowed the same education for free. have you heard of the sharecropper farming system in the south after the civil war? imagine that where the owner of the farm is the government(the government is the whole of all people), and the people who farmed it would be the citizens. all money eventually went back to the owner of the farm since the owner also tended to own the clothes shops and other stores too.

as i just said everyone is only equal to begin with. competition can lead to enemies, but the main reason i mentioned enemies was cause the person i quoted also mentioned enemies, i highly doubt there'd me many enemies when the main goal is progress of the whole and people would respect that the state comes before the individual. although, look at soviet union, iraq, communist china, yopenya, zimbabwae and even ancient rome(when it became a dictatorship/empire). that reminds me, the true enemies are the christians homosexuals anarchists libertarians most religious people. other people, but mostly them. with enemies as bad as those, who would fight other people in the country?
