I was just wondering what kind of gsm or cell phone system you use?
European gsm phone dont seem to work there unless it's a triband...whatever that is.

Do all the states use the same systems??

Do you know of a company or website that sells american, gsm, cell phones and california numbers??

CDMA and TDMA phones, mostly. Not much GSM I'm afraid.
We have a lot of triband phones on the market, but I know the frequencies are not exactly the same as in Europe.

For high-speed data transmission we have the 1X protocol, which is (I think) 384 kb/sec. I know some regions in Europe have higher transmission rates.

By the way, European and North American contracts, services and billing systems are usually very different. We don't have a lot of phones with removable cards. Most phones are hardwired to one provider.

In Canada there are 3 major operators: Bell Mobility, Telus, Rogers.
