in the Democratic Party?

I am not putting my political agreement or disagreement with their views into this at all, just a general question.. Are there any leaders in the Democratic Party? The Republicans seem to be able to raise leaders, that can bring not only diehard conservatives, but moderates on both sides of the aisle, and even some previously left-thinking voters into their camp, and seem to be growing in strength. Everyone says Hillary in 08 Hillary in 08, but to be honest, like her or not, she needs to get more experience in her current capacity, get some major bills behind her before she has a chance. Yet again I ask? Are there any leaders in the Democratic Party? If your answer is yes, tell me who and why..

I have to say although I don't really want to pledge undying loyalty to either party, there are no big names that stick out in the Democrats. Even the larger names, Richard Gephardt (MO) and Tom Daschle (ND) have fallen from grace and power. Nancy Polosi seems to be a joke, and I really don't know much about Mr. Reid... although he seems a little crazy...

I think Obama from Illinois has some power behind him, and is gaining strength. Hearing him speak, he seems intelligent, with well thought-out points, and to be honest-- almost sounded like a Republican. If it weren't for the (D) next to his name, there would be no difference.

....maybe George Soros could get his citizenship and run with it.... He would be self-reliant any way...

Hillary CANNOT beat a McCain ticket, they would have more lucky electing Edwards as the candidate or even putting Dean on it. No matter how much teh right tries to villify Dean, they will have a WAYY too easy field day with Clinton, especially with McCain on the ticket. If it comes down to McCain vs Clinton, just give McCain the white house and go to bed early, you don't need to wait up for poll results

John Edwards is very good as is Howard Dean. But if the republicans are running Mcain, they are most likely gonna have my vote regardless of who runs for the democrats.

The republicans are not going to run McCain. Give it up. If they could, they'd store him in a Tiger cage in a swap and trot him out when ever they needed some credibility to rub off.

Us running McCain would be the final nail in the Democrat's coffin. But anyway, as per the topic of Democrat leadership....apparently it's Dean but also not Dean. It depends on who the you pose the question to. If it's the rabid, young, grassroots base of the party then it will most certainly be Dean. If it's the moderates and the leaders who display some wisdom, then most certainly NOT Dean.
