Me, I belong to Revolution- www.worldrevolution.org.uk

Whoa... coming from a socialist I'm a little scared of *that* organization. I mean when the front page has a spikey haired female shouting at nothing in particular through a bullhorn, and it's first paragraph advocates violent revoltuion... hmmm. Though man, considering the Revolutionary Troskyist party, you do the whole communist revolution thing with style .

In answer to your question, not really. I consider myself a socialist(actually full personal political description is in my sig), but I don't know of any legitimate Socialist or Socialdemocratic parties in the US, and certainly none where I live.

I'm confused about your political stance. Your a globalist libertarian, yet you are a socialist too? Wait, so you simultaneously have a free-market economy that is restricted by a large central government? How is this possible?

Strictly it isn't, but then again I'm not using it in a strictly dictionary style.

It's broken down like this. I took my base ideology -
Socialism
Added my love of democracy
Democratic Socialism
Added the fact that I am a Libertarian Socialist
Libertarian Democratic Socialism
Added that I believe in globalist politics(not economics)
Globalist Libertarian Democratic Socialist
And the fact that I am a Gandhian Pacifist.
Pacifist Globalist Libertarian Democratic Socialist

Sooo... I am globalist in the sence that I believe in more International cooperation, and in the sence that eventually I would like to see a one world government.

By libertarian, I mean Libertarian Socialism, which is different from Marx's socialism which involved more control on civil rights. I am strongly libertarian on a Libertarian/Authoritaran scale(legal drugs, prositution, etc.), but I am socialist on the traditional left-right economic scale(welfare, greater monetary equality, etc.)

BTW I mean the scales as used at the famed Political Compass test - http://www.politicalcompass.org/

This is kinda tough for me to explain because I got it from a source that I can't find again... but I read somewhere that an individual post-Marx wrote a socialist book advocating a more socially libertarian form of socialism than what Marx's original idea was.

I'm not saying you seek to limit civil rights, but that there was more control of them in Marx's theories than with the ideology put forth by the guy whose name I can't remember.

DHomme, you're as red as they come :) , maybe you can fill in the blank name?

Oh, and I applaud you and your organization working for gay rights.

I really couldnt say, but the quote from Marx is "Workers of the world Unite!" and not "Workers of the world Unite! Except if you're gay, black, Jewish, handicapped or a woman, in which case sod off."

Oh and I may have to put that communism with style quote in my sig

As a Bahai, I'm not allowed to be invovled in a political organization. I can peacefuly protest, sign petitions, and anything else that comes with being a citizen, but I can't be directly invovled in support of or seek political office. This always frustrated the various groups that tried to recruit me during my college days (Everyone from Liberatarians to Communists tried)

This came in very handy when I was dating a Senators daughter. I had to be vetted and given clearance for a couple dinners and functions I was invited to. Nothing hugely important, but as I was going to be sharing the table with some powerful folks, some people felt it was neccessary. During the intial (well, only, to be honest) interview, as soon as it came out that I'm a Bahai, the entire tone of it changed. Being Canadian had already helped, but after that, it became more of a chat session. They knew I wasn't going to do anything moronic in the name of some politcal cause. Of course, I was free to make an ass of myself otherwise if I so chose.

BTW the Senator didn't run for office last time around...beyond that, names and such are NOYB.

Though I know they make places like Canada and the US tick and are part of what makes them great (freedom of assembly, etc) I find the members of most political organizations to be total boors. Not everyone cares that much, y'know?

"Libertarian" does not refer to the name of the US political party. You don't have to be capitalist to be libertarian.

I realize this. But to be economically libertarian hints that one is in favor of free-market policies. My mistake was that Kroisistan was referring to social libertarianism (which fits perfectly within socialism), rather than simply "libertarianism ideology". Everything's cleared up now. Thanks!

By the way, is it too late to be included in your NS Political Compass? My coordinates are in my signature.

Yes, many socialists are also libertarians.

In the sense that they are SOCIAL libertarians, correct?
