Anyone else ever notice that...

most open political message boards that do not specifically seek members of one party or another tend to be mildly to heavily liberal?

Yet we can't win any elections????

This puzzles me to no end. I can guess it has something to do with the fact that the DNC insists on putting crazies like Dean in the media spotlight.

Any thoughts???

I think it has something to do with the fact that conservatives tend to have more responsibilities. Family, work, figuring out how to get by under a ridiculously high tax system, etc. Also, many conservatives tend not to be as tech savvy and find relaxing in front of the TV with a beer preferable to online Forums. Oh, and these type of Forums are usually heavily populated by Europeans, who are predominantly liberal.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's kind of bizarre. I think part of it may be that there's a larger percentage of liberals among younger people, and they are the people most likely to post on forums.

You don't get out much. I've been to quite a few open political message boards that aren't labeled as "political". They are full of conservatives.

As a good example, try going to ar15.com and post something liberal - say, how much you think guns should be banned.

on a site called ar15?, that doesn't count as posting anything liberal, that jsut counts as flame-baiting. You wanna say something liberal to find out who is a conservative? Post that you think everyone should be equal.

and whsipering legs found conservative message boards? Wow, I mgiht die for the surprise

Well of course assult weapons message boards are going to be an exception.

Come on now that is a bit obvious.

I resent that, considering that I am conservative and both me and my father, who is also conservative, are quite technically inclined. My dad is a Sr. Architect for a fast growing corporation, and I am learning several different programming languages, including Java, C#, PHP, and XHTML. I know a lot of conservatives who are also very, very intelligent.

Yeah, there are lots of conservative message boards. I think it's just that the internet is so vast that people tend to gravitate towards others who agree with them. They never find out about message boards full of people who disagree with them, because they're outside their sphere of knowledge.

I hope I'm not insulting anyone... this has just been my experience with the web.

I don't think that was meant as an insult of all conservatives' intelligence.

Where do you think most conservatives post? Go to a weapons or military forum and you'll see them.

Maybe I wasn't clear. My point was that most mainstream message boards(i.e. not on a website that is clearly liberal/conservative by its very nature) tend to have more liberal posters than conservative.

Usually, because the conservatives leave after being made not welcome.

Then again, I post on Democratic Underground, just to see what they're thinking. They have no idea I'm a Republican.

Young people and old people tend to be mainly liberal. Middle-aged people, to protect their family values & taxes, tend to be mainly conservative.
