Based upon established Parliamentary rules, I, as duly elected Member of Parliament representing the United Democratic Communist Party, hereby submit the following proposal outline for consideration by my esteemed colleagues and fellow Members of Parliament:

That the death penalty be officially and solemnly opposed by this Parliament, and that it be never implemented or condoned.

I must again, nay this. Execution is the only way to erm 'Protect' society from erm... 'Bad influences.'

This is an amended version of this proposal (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9112911#post9112911).

I would like to thank all those who supported the original proposal, as well as those who contributed their thoughts and suggestions.

Dragontologia, you are not an MP. Your vote 'Nay - I am an MP' will not be counted.

When non-MPs vote as MPs, it might help to make their name REALLY BIG and also RED when informing them of their error.

That way, if they ever actually read the thread again, they'll be sure to notice that they messed up.

Just a thought. :)

Perhaps just the name and the word "not" should be large and red...perhaps bold&italic&underline, just to drive the point home.

...they should, however, be bigger!

:p

(Quite. Again, I'd like to ask you to put the non-MP option FIRST in polls because people are stupid.)

Although I oppose this proposal. I vote Yea as it should be discussed. For those that oppose the death penalty (Moleleand), it is only reasonable that this motion be brought before parliament and the issue be resolved.

Indeed. I would remind all Members of Parliament that you are voting on whether or not the issue of the death penalty should be brought before Parliament.

For me there is nno decusion here. I intend to vote against this, but it probably still be debated.

Are you arguing that it should not be debated?

Yes.

It'll give more time for more important issues...

My turn to bump.

Come on MPs support or oppose this going to debate.
Ariddia

BUMP. Less than half the Members of Parliament have voted so far. Where are you?

Only the following have voted so far:
Alien Born, Ariddia, DHomme, FairyTInkArisen, Knootoss, New Burmesia, Santa Barbara, Moleland.

You have the quota...
Ariddia

Quorum has been reached, indeed. As there is already a proposal being debated by Parliament, this one will be queued. I'll submit a full text to Parliament once the current proposal has been voted on.

I'm on the fence on this issue. We should at least talk about it.

I can see both sides of this issue, but in all honesty it's cheaper to just kill them then feed them three meals a day and pay for various prison costs for the rest of their lives. However, I am not a big fan of the idea of allowing the Government to kill folks; it leaves the door open for all kinds of abuse.

That said, as far as I'm concerned I'd prefer to kill them since it's easier on my pocketbook.

Gentleman, and ladies. There will be a debate on this as soon as the Right to a Fair trial proposal is completed. Save your arguments for then.
