Hey all, anyone else catch Bill Moyers with Jon Stewart?

Watching the interview I have one question. At one point Moyers said something like, "Congress is trying to cut Corporation of Public Broadcasting's budget by 40%." Assuming I heard him correctly, where's he getting this number?

From what I've heard, Congress wants to cut federal funds from $400million to $300million; a 25% cut of federal funds. I also hear federal funds make up about 1/7 of CPB's total budget. So if Congress does cut out that $100million, that's a cut of about 11% not 40%.

I saw it, and yes, I heard this. But, he seemed to be pretty smashed, what with the flowing into different topics of discussion and all that :p.

Alright, just wanted to make sure the hearing or my math skills weren't going haywire.

I never watch the interviews. The rest of the show was really good, though.

I believe he was talking about the precentage of funding that would end up being cut at the local level.

Anyone hear that tidbit about the reason why Moyers isn't employed anymore? According to Moyers...

The newly appointed chairman had someone directly from the Republican party watch Bill Moyers show and watch it for "bias against the President". The chairman appointed this person without the knowledge of anyone on the staff, and this kind of "bias watch" has never occured before. The results were not released, nor was the "bias watch" even mentioned to anyone in PBS until they fired Moyers.

So if this is to be belived, the new chairman effectively they found an excuse to get rid of him and is refusing to mention that its because Moyers was found to be politically incorrect.

I don't think Moyers said he was directly from the Republican party. I think he just called him a "right-winger". But, yeah, I caught that part of the interview.
