That's right. the 11-year old boy scout who managed to get himself lost in the mountains of Utah has been found, alive and well, albiet dehydrated.
I just read the story and decided the kid was an idiot though. Why?
Well, first off, he was in a boy scout camp with 1,400 other boys. He decided to walk off with his friend to go rock climbing. His friend took off towards the 'chow hall'. Then, in an amazing display of stupidity, this kid decided to walk the other way and go off into the woods.
So, we now have three mistakes: leaving camp, ignoring the buddy system, and then walking in the wrong direction.
Then, once lost, he did not approach rescuers because he was afriad they might be 'bad people'. That was his parents training him. Of course he was faced with 2 choices: stay lost and starving or take the risk and approach the people and be saved.
Based off the story, my verdict is that the kid was being a dumbass. There is no excuse for every mistake he made, but he still made them. He was being an idiot.
