Very carefully? My question is who allowed them to do that, and why?

It was the Miramar Airshow in 2004. Must have been quite something to see.

There are a couple of rocket trucks out there and they use a drag chute just like cars for drag racing. Nothing special about it really.

I heard about this.

How fast was the truck going when he passed? 160 mph?

376 mph I think. That is the link.

Search for truck.
Cannot think of a name

Don't they do something like that at every air show?

Still to search for exact speed. But obviously that's a hoss truck. Beat the Jet from a stand still.

I'd rather be in the jet than that truck lol.

The truck picking up so much speed so fast and being on the ground would scare the hell out of me.

Pretty cool :) either way

Found some sites about that Truck. You were right, was right at 370mph. Wow!

Ha! Red Bull has a MIG. Is it a 17 or a 19?

17, by the look of it :)

Nice truck, I wouldn't mind having that in my garage, lol

There are jet "cars" as well, dating way back to when I was a kid.

You know, the first thing I thought of when I saw the guy's name in the link was "His name is Dick Seaman. Is that for real? Did some bastard parent really name their kid that".
Anyone else think this, or is just me?

This is insane:
"In a typical show, an aircraft approaches the jet truck from behind, flying at about 200 mph (). The Shockwave jet truck accelerates from zero to 300 mph in about 11 seconds in an attempt to catch up with the plane overhead."
Imagine how the guy driving it must feel. How many g's would he get with that acceleration?

It's only around 1.2g's (approx. 12.12....m/s^2 acceleration) assuming constant acceleration throughout the 11seconds :)

Wouldn't want to get in that truck's way ...

Considering the speed of the impact, it would be all over before you knew it.
