...and I was wondering if any other NSers do/have ever done/intend to do charity work.
To be fair, part of the reason I'm doing it is because otherwise I'd just be bored and sit around on my arse the entire summer, but it's mainly because I actually like it. It's so much better than other shop work, even if there's no pay, just because of the friendliness of everyone - customers, other staff, random people walking past outside when you're putting stuff out front.

I've given it a thought as round my area there is loads of Charity Shops, plus it would be something to do.

Do it, you'll love it! Plus you can act morally superior to your friends...go for the new Oxfam down...erm, don't know the name of the street...the shop's kinda opposite Ice 9. I've got a friend works there

Heh, no, sadly. Used to live in Wollaton, but my family moved to Essex 18 years ago (I'm 19). Just a friend of mine at uni lives in Wollaton now, so I go to Nottm occasionally. And I would probably get lost quite easily there...

Good for you! :)
As a utilitarian, I also do some charity work. I'm not sure how old you have to be to work full-time, but I'm only 15.
As I understand it, Oxfam is a British organization, but does it or any equivalent large, well-reknowned charity have offices to work at in Central Minnesota?

I've done assorted charity work. Currently I am mainly involved in this one: http://www.ags-osaka.org/eng/index.htm
It's a charity helping hospitalized children and their families.
I do some fund raising and donate my services as a semi-professional Santa.
I'm also currently assisting a friend in a fund raiser for the victems of last year's big tsunami.
I've also done work (mostly as a fund raising volunteer) for the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other local groups.

You could try Cafod...I think that's a worldwide charity. But you might want to take a look at their polices first - it's a Catholic organisation, so countries have to accept aid from them on certain conditions. Your best bet would be just to go to your nearest town/city and have a look.
