Anyone read Honor Harrington, or other David Weber scifi?

Cause I wanted to start up a debate, Scifi fleet combat! B5 vs ST vs SW vs HH vs Starfire..

Namco vs Capcom vs SNK vs FCKING everyhing style :D

I read the starfire series. Never found any Harrington stuff. So, what do we start with?

Well, what Starfire ships would you put against... erm. A Star Wars Star Destroyer?

Any Starfire ship could take out a Star destroyer. They can shoot out to 10 light-seconds or so, star destroyers only seem to get a few hundred mles.

Star Trek now, their ships are fast enough to actually get into range and hurt Starfire ships. I'd love to see Voyager take on an Acid or an Auger class.

But hmm, you're right... although it does depend on the ship. But then again, the ships in Crusade are the earliest tech, and the capital ships can fire their missiles out more than ten LS.

As for Voyager against the Acid... are we talking the uberVoyager?

I don't know, I only caught a few episodes, it looked like a solid ship. Plus i'd be interested to see what they thought about primaries (they scare me a lot).

Primary beams are indeed, powerful weapons.

I tend not to use 'em much, maybe two for a SD.

Why? Because of their ROF. Its too low.

But... it'd do ALOT of damage to Voyager's systems. Reasoning?

If a magazine with antimatter, in the Starfire universe, gets hit - the entire ship goes kaboo.

Actually, what I would use would be a smaller application of the Primary, the Needle Beam, and target the ship's warp core.

My fleet would be space shuttles that have lightning guns, because space shuttles are the fastest and lightning guns are the most powerful. (lame)

Is there any way you can play Starfire online (or even find the rules free?). It's one of those games I always wanted to play (alongside Battlefleet Gothic and Blood Bowl).

There is, at this time, only one way to play Starfire Online, and thats the sucky, crappy, suckbyballsandblowmydick Fourth Edition.

Third Edition is where it's at, and due to the guy owning Starfire deciding he wanted 4th Edition to reign supreme, got into a pissing match with Steve Walmsley, the guy who was making Starfire Assistant, the only way to play Starfire strategic online, and forced him to shut down his SFA website.

Steve is currently working on his own game (In which I am on the test group)
