Is this game horribly addictive or what?

I want to buy a new computer just so I can play it. Too bad I can't afford it.

It dulls your mind after a few hours and days of playing it.

Worst 50 bucks I've ever spent. Now it just entertains me by me creating a lot of lesbian families.

I don't know whether its horrible, or horribly addicting. I like to create families and just see what I can do with them, but getting my sim up everyday to do the same thing gets a little boring after a while...

Very unique in design and concept, and certainly fun to play; however, after I became busy with school, I chose NS over it :D

I love it. The expansion pack for it is great too. Now Expansion Pack 2 is coming out soon as well. I can't wait to get it.

Yes it is very addicting! :D

Agreed. I played the Sims when it first came out, played a couple expansion packs, but it just got very monotonous.

The sims 2 is much better than sims 1! Besides, in the expansion pack coming out, you'll be able to own cars. No more Carpooling. You can actually drive places if what I'm reading about this expansion pack is correct.

See, that's what the cheats are for.

I just really use the one that maxes their energy and stuff all the time so they never need to eat or sleep.

I like making families and seeing them grow up to make new families.

There are cheats that do that? I wasn’t aware. Care to share?

Yeah, that is pretty fun. I have a family into its fourth generation now. They all live in the same lot, so its like a compound at this point, after being added on to so many times. Actually, the architectural element is what I enjoy the most. I like using the money cheats and designing castles, mansions, towers etc.

boolprop testingcheatsenabled true, entered in the console while in the neighborhood view, is very useful.

When you get to House view, it lets you drag up all the bars to the max.
If you shift (or is it Ctrl?) click on the mailbox, it gives all sorts of interesting options. (Hint: Do NOT click "Know everybody" and then "Make All Friends". It will mess things up.)

typing motherlode into the console gives you $50,000 a pop.

Not that I play a lot -- or cheat. ;)

I've been wondering...

How the hell do you do that "stretch skeleton" cheat, which enables you to make your sims taller or smaller?

Yeah, there's this one picture that restores all their health stuff and there's also a car that has that option as well as the option to maximize their ambition... I don't like cheating with their ambition, or the money so much, it takes the fun out of the game a bit.

Wow. I haven't got an entire family living on the same lot yet, let alone 4 generations. The game is at my parent's house so I don't get to play it as much as I would like.

I'm perfectly capable of getting addicted to much better games than "The Sims".

hmm, the Sims. It was posible the most boring game i've ever bought. Complete waste of money. I presume the sequel is just the same but with more options and better graphics so i doubt i'll waste my money again.

sims2 is so not as good as the original. for a start its lost its magic with me (having played the first one to death, and there not really being anything new in this one), and there's also far fewer stupid/silly things in 2 as there were in the original :(

plus, i hate seeing my sims grow old and die! its puts a time pressure element on the player that just doesn't need to be there (so i cheat & turn it off ;))

The sequel didn't get me nearly as hooked as the predecessor, and boy did I play that one when it came out. I don't think I've ever been that addicted to computer game in my life, and I spent better part of a summer playing the original, unmodified Sims. By the time they started pumping out the expansion packs the worst was already over for me, and I didn't get around to buying them. The sequel's good though, much better than the original, but the novelty of it has just passed for me. Still a great way to pass a few hours now and then.

or how about piling up a room with fireplaces and wicker furniature? everyone's done that... ;)

I've heard lots of people rave about "The Sims", about how fun it is to play, and I have no problems whatsoever with what other people decide is fun, so long as they're not hurting other people... and I'm sure that if I actually bought the game for myself and played it, I'd find it fun, too, and probably play it a lot....

It's just that, the way I figure it, if I find a simulation of everyday real life... more fascinating... than my actual everyday real life... then I really am a lost cause. :p [snicker]

The sequel is a lot different from the original. The people age in the sequel, which makes it very different for me. Plus your kids actually turn out to look like the parents...

You gave them a toilet and a fridge?! You're too kind! :p

Personally I like the drowing sims in swimming pools.... trapping people in rooms on fire.... simply making them very depressed by looking at the sad clown picture....

I'm nice really, honest! :D

That's all I really do, too. I love building and furnishing the houses, but the actual living the lives of the sims is kind of monotonous to me.

My brother used a cheat (in the original) to get a lot of money, which he used to surround a very small two story house with plants and a rocket. He had an elevator to go up to the second story with nothing but a phone (to call the pizza man.). He called the pizza man, got him up there (another cheat of course), called everyone up, put them in the second story and shot off the rocket. Everything was in flames for over 30 minutes. A person died up stairs, then my friend Grim went up there and he got stuck there. There was a lot of "puddles". Suprisingly that was the only one who died, but Grim brought him back for a certain time. I think the fireman was also on the second floor. No one got out because I forgot to mention that he sold the elevator . The whole thing was great.

I have two and colleges. I bought the ressurect thing, but got fired from my biology job just because I got a card and made the people loose their job. I wanted the man eating cow plant to :(

I've never seen the fun in torturing Sims. For that urge I recommend "The Punisher". :)

The Punisher about to slam a guy's face against a concrete floor:

Yeah, or killing off a succession of families, just to fill up the entire yard with gravestones.
