Have you ever been confused for a member of the opposite sex by another NSer? Why? Sound off here!
Also, here's something totally inane and pointless for you to put into your sig. :p

Personally, I referred to myself as a "slut" once and two NSers instantly assumed I was female...and proceed to hit on me. :headbang:
(To get the code for the sig, just hit QUOTE on this post and take the code from there.)
Yes
I'd wanna see more people declare their abuse before putting THAT THING in MY sig! :D

Funny thing - that happened to me for the first time today.
But I'm with Colodia on putting in my sig. ;)
Just about everybody around here assumes I am male at first. I take it as a compliment, most of the time.

You can be ALL-sure, because that little incident most definitely inspired this thread. :D

For an extremely long time I thought Nadkor was male. Just sounded too masculine to be female.

Why, do you think men are superior to women? ;)

Yeah people see "Barbara" and assume I'm female.
Must be a non-American thing. I saw your name and instantly thought "city name...probably male".
Why, do you think men are superior to women? ;)
I don't...but many people do. And many of the qualities that I most prize are considered "masculine" by the majority of people.
Besides, men can do math and open jars! :)

Nah... it's American alright. You just recognize it as a city name because you are more familiar with Spanish town and city names in general, I think. Well that and you've got a head on your shoulders, that probably helps.

Q: What's the difference between women and sheep?
A: Sheep can't wash dishes. *rimshot crash groan*
-and just for balance's sake-
Q: What's the difference betwen men and vibrators?
A: Vibrators can't mow the lawn. *more rimshot crash groan*

Hey, why are diamonds a woman's best friend. But a man's best friend is some crappy dog?

Well why is a boy's best friend his mother? Mother to dog, thats an odd change in preferences.
But hey at least the males are making friends who are, you know, living.

very old joke - balanced in the sexism though
the perfect woman and the perfect man are driving in a car on christmas eve, when suddenly Santa claus who's got a flat reindeer falls from the sky. All but one peron dies.
Who survives?

The Perfect Woman, cause the other two don't exist!
But if that's the case.... how'd she drive there?

Quite A few people habe assumed that I am a female becuase of my user name, although I can't see how that could be. It's the "a" at the end. Like with Keruvalia (yes, I know Keruvalia is male).

Yep, same problem with me.

I mostly ignore the gender reference stuff. If you know me, you know my gender identity. I don't usually make a big noise about it, unless some pinhead starts slagging TGs unduly.
Just call me Dobbs. It's easiest.

On another forum, yes. I'd been referred to as female for months, despite numerous people correcting the person.
I've yet to be referred to as the opposite gender on NS, probably because of the "Lord" in my name. I'm sure there'll come a time when someone does, though.
When refering to other posters, I generally say "He/she/it" to be on the safe side.

Hey, Tex. Does it count if you haven't on NS, but have in real life? :P
(I used to have long hair, and... well, I'm not very muscular. Apparently I was a cute girl, as I got HIT ON.)

Yep, I suspect that is sometimes the problem. But when so many nation names end in "-a" or "-ia", one might expect a forum based on nations to have quite a few genderless names with those endings.

ive been mistaken for a guy SO many times on NS and in real life!!!

If I accessed the forums as 'Mauvasia', people would have been far more likely to mistake my gender.
As it is with 'Czar' in my name, and my general posting style, no-one's ever mistaken me for a female. :p

My name ends in "a", and I'm mistaken for male a lot. Maybe because it's so weird and long... but it is for a reason.

Lol, I so put it in my sig.
It was either last week, or the week before, and Texpunditstan assumed I was a girl, for no particular reason, I guess.
Does it make me special that the person who mistook me for a girl started the
NS Gender Bender Society (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9095405)?

So anyway I was cruising through my pages and pages of Ego-search hits (beloved, beloved ego-search, which informs me whenever someone mentions me by name so that I may investigate the worship), when I fell upon this.
Harlesburg, I'm transsexual. I hope that answers your question.
Would I join the NS gender bender society? That all depends on whether or not I get dental.
