really quite left, me

do the test here: http://www.politicalcompass.org/
it gives a pretty decent indication of where you stand, and includes an extra dimension (libertarianism vs authoritarianism)

most people put their political compass scores in their signatures... mine's -8.88 (communist) and -6.67 (fairly libertarian)

I'm almost completely to the left. I haven't done the compass test in a while but I'll do it again and post my results. I estimate I'll get around -8 on the economical and about -5 on the social (I have some strongly authoritarian social feelings, such as punishment of criminals, but the rest is liberal - I'm no Stalinist :D).

I took the political compass test a while ago… apparently I'm fairly left economically, and only the tiniest bit socially libertarian. That's probably because I'm for wide political freedoms, but I'm quite authoritarian in some places at the same time.

I prefer this quiz to the political compass: http://www.orgburo.com/pofoquiz/pofo.php

You scored 63 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social.
You scored 68 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist.
You scored 39 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government.
You scored 64 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist.
You scored 45 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader.
You scored 62 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist.
You scored 19 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market.
You scored 43 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist.

Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you a socially-orientated, materialist, big-government, internationalist, non-absolutist, controlled-market kind of person.

These characteristics would put you in the overall category of socialist.

[QUOTE=L-rouge]I prefer this quiz to the political compass: http://www.orgburo.com/pofoquiz/pofo.php

I took them both--the political compass came out like this:

Economic Left/Right: -9.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.77

This puts me in the same category with people I respect, so I'd say the test is pretty accurate about my opinions regarding government and economics.

----

The other one came out like this:

67 out of 100-Individual vs Social.
29 out of 100-Theist vs Materialist.
55 out of 100-Big Government vs Small Government.
68 out of 100-Nationalist vs Internationalist.
33 out of 100-Protectionist vs Free Trader
65 out of 100-Absolutist vs Non Absolutist.
27 out of 100-Controlled Market vs Liberal Market.
46 out of 100-Marxist vs Non-Marxist.

Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you a socially-orientated, theist, internationalist, protectionist, non-absolutist, controlled-market kind of person. These characteristics would put you in the overall category of social conservative protectionist with a hint of socialism.

---

In other words, the second test was WAY OFF...

In both tests there were many questions that I had trouble answering. They still assume too much to accurately measure freaks like me.

The political compass has the right idea, but it needs more dimensions to it.

Economic Left/Right: 2.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

Just as I expected. A bit to the right on the economic scale and very much libertarian (left?) on the social scale. Which would make me a... social liberal? Hm, guess I'm a bit of both :p

EDIT:
Took the second test :)

"Individual-Social: 42
Theist-Materialist: 70
Big Gov-Small Gov: 93
Nationalist-Internationalist: 71
Protection-Free Trade: 53
Absolutist-Non Absolutist: 71
Controlled Market-Liberal Market: 62
Marxist-Non Marxist: 60

Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you a materialist, small-government, internationalist, non-absolutist, liberal-market kind of person.

These characteristics would put you in the overall category of borderline internationalist. Your natural home at PoliticsForum would be the International Relations area."

I have my doubts at some of these results, but oh well. I'm very pro-EU, so Internationalist sounds right to me.

First time post,

Using both polls this is what I got:

Economic Left/Right: 6.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.85

Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you an individually-orientated, small-government, free-trade, non-absolutist, liberal-market kind of person, who doesn't sound like a Marxist.

These characteristics would put you in the overall category of libertarian. Your natural home at PoliticsForum would be the Liberalism area.

You scored 0 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social.
You scored 57 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist.
You scored 98 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government.
You scored 49 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist.
You scored 100 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader.
You scored 70 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist.
You scored 96 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market.
You scored 79 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist.
