I am 176cm. I'm 14. So is that tall? But 180cm is 6ft. So I'm just going to say I'm 6ft. :)

I'm 177cm without shoes (about 5'9.5"), and I'm 5'11-ish" in my Reebok Classics (note that I'm 17). My brother, at this age, was just a little over 5'8"... In his shoes. He's about 6'1" without shoes now, and he's 20. Then, there's my uncle, Joe, who was 5'10" at my age, and is now 6'6". He's about 55 now. Oh, and there's my grandpa... He was 6'5" (now deceased). Going by this history, I'll say that I have a good chance of being at least 6'2" by 20.

I'm going ahead and clicking "6ft".

My dad had taped folded rags taped to all the high corners in the house because he was tired of hurting his head.

I wouldn't want to be as tall as him (especially the way he got tall, more than a foot in one year-ouch) but 6' would be just right, maybe 6'1". 5'10" is a 'settle' height...grumblemoangrumble

The other day I heard someone talking as if being tall was a good thing. I'm not tall and I don't want to be, but then I come from a family of hobbits and I'm the tallest one around. My mother's side of the family suffers from Gluteus Terra Proximia. (Their arses are too close to the ground.)

I used to be lanky, but I've filled out. According to the BMI I'm slightly bigger than I should be, but I wouldn't describe my build as either big or large, just in proportion to my size, so avarage.

Heh. My dad never quite had that problem... He was about 5'1" until he was 20, when he had to have thyroid shots (medical condition). He grew from 5'1" to about 5'8" in less than a year.

He should've been taller, though. My grandma told me something about her undergoing some sort of therapy to keep him small, so the birth wouldn't hurt as much. Hmm.

Meh, could be worse. My mom's side of the family is full of gigantic Irish people. Seriously! The biggest is my uncle, whom I mentioned earlier. I have two more uncles from her side of the family: One's 6'4", and the other's 6'3". And they're big.

Yeah. Thyroid therapy. They inject some sort of hormone into your neck (ouch) with a rather large, thick needle (double, TRIPLE ouch). You continue the therapy as long as necessary. It doesn't give the same results for everyone, however, and it's quite expensive.

It's actually 26 (forgot where I read this... was some medical journal), but usually, males stop growing vertically at 21.

I'm 6'3" but everyone thinks I'm taller because I have incredibly good posture. My good posture got hardwired into my brain. When I was 7 years old, my mom took me to an excellent chiroprator, in part because I was small for my age and also because I had bas posture. He took some X-rays and performed a few simple tests and pronounced that I would be between 6'1" and 6'6" when fully grown. He also gave me a simple excercise to ensure good posture. I'd walk around for ten minutes each day with a broom handle acroos my shoulders, my arms draped over each end. After just a couple months of this I had great posture. He was a really good chiropractor IMHO.

I'd never want to be any taller. As others have mentioned, anything over about 6'1" is a pain, because the morons of the world insist on making everything scaled to the average heights of people half a century ago. Short people are the bane of existence. I have really long legs, so finding pants that fit has been a real bitch until the last few years. Same with long sleeved shirts or coats. I used to be a stick person but now that I'm 31 I've filled out well. There are advantages to being tall of course. Instant respect is one of them.

I'm 22 yrs old...and am 5'11''. In my nuclear family, I'm the tallest, by four inches. My stepdad used to be 5'10'', but his last measuring brought him only to 5'7'' lol. He's shrinking, while my mom on the other hand, grew an inch to 5'1'' (she'd been 5' even, all her life, so it was a big deal for her to grow that extra inch).

I guess age has its different effects on different people. My biological dad stands at 6'1'' himself, so I've got most of my height from him, but obviously my mom gave me a few 'shortie' genes to halt my growth at my current height. Still, it's funny during the times I'm in an argument with my stepdad, and I'm staring down at him. All those years when he used to be taller than me and glaring down at me, and now I shall do that to him for the rest of our lives lol.

Good idea. I'll try the broomhandle thing! I already have very good walking posture, but my sitting posture could use some help.

With this, I bid NS fairwell for... This morning, until... Later this morning. Good... Morning.

At 16, I'm 6 ft tall at full stretch.

I say, "at full stretch" because I like to compose myself as smaller than what I really am.

This is so that I can stretch up and look like I've grown several inches in 5 seconds.

Problem is, I'm extremely thin (you can see the ribs!), so finding trousers that fit is a bugger.

Anyway, 5'7" here too. Wish I was just a little bit taller, since I always like really tall guys (6'+). And as fun as it is looking up to them, I could really do without the pleasant view up their nostrils, and currently the only way to manage that is to stand a good metre or so away from them. Bah.

Did you know, men are supposed to be getting taller, and women shorter? When we had my 6th Form year photo, they got us all to line up in height order. There's about 150 of us in the year, and the talllest 30 were all boys. The bottom 50 were all girls, with the exception of my mate, who is about 5"3. Man, he was pissed.

Could someone explain why the poll is set to close on 31-10-2006 at 5:54 AM?

Seems an awfly strange time to me.
That's when the world is set to end, not much point in continuing the poll after that.

Wow, 7ft is tall. I didn't think my topic would get this popular. C'mon, there must be more 4ft's.

3ft and 4ft are options? Do you think gnomes post here or something?

Fortunately for me, I happen to be 6ft. exactly, so I've no need to round. And I'm in my lower 20s.
