Read this, the unnamed Cub pitcher has been revealed to be Greg Maddux since this article was written. It has been all over Chicago sports radio and Bruce Levine broke that it is indeed Maddux using the highly illegal spitball. Actually, it's sort of obvious. Watch him pitch. He always goes to his mouth.

I'd like to see something else identifying the cheater as Maddux. Also, this article doesn't sound too convincing. It's based on a quote from a rival team which amounts too "those guys are cheating!". I want to see something more concrete before I am ready to discredit a long and ilustrious career.

You won't get anything concrete from a member of the White Sox or their fans because they make shit up. Buehrle is just pissed off because he isn't even half the pitcher Maddux is and he hates the Cubs. You want to point fingers at future hall of famers, look no further than the south side of Chicago. I'm thinking the "Big Hurt" uses a big needle to get those big homeruns.

Just watch Maddux pitch. Before every single pitch he licks his fingers and then puts them on the ball. The umps don't do crap about it. Mark isn't making this up. Just watch Greg Maddux pitch. Doctoring the ball isn't something that is new. Many pitchers have done stuff from vaseline on the ball to Whitey Ford using his wedding ring to scratch the ball to cause it to move more. Even former Sox Cy Young winner Early Wynn used spitballs. Gaylord Perry also is on that list. Look, most of these guys don't cheat in their prime, but as they get older they want to stay on top and then begin cheating. That is what Maddux is doing.

Mark Buehrle doesn't suck BTW. He is now 8-1 with a low ERA. You should've seen him pitch Friday. CG Shutout. He is better than Maddux and is on track to possibly be the youngest player to 300, and seeing how he has never missed a start in his career he will get there. As for Frank, he doesn't use roids. He has long been a staunch supporter of drug testing and has had himself tested. He also is huge for 2 reasons. The first reason is that he comes from a huge family. His mom weighs like 300 lbs. He is also huge because he was an offensive lineman in football at Auburn.

A spitball, I'm assuming, is where one spits upon the ball, then tosses it. I'm assumign it's illegal due to possible transmission of diseases. So..why do people do this?

No, no, no. Assumption wrong. Adding spit to the ball gives it more movement and makes the ball harder to hit.

Whatever, man. If Maddux was throwing a spitball, do you think his ERA would be over 4 right now? Do you think he'd be getting shelled every game? Buehrle is a member of White Sox nation...no surprise he'd finger a famous Cub as a cheater.

Blah blah blah. Look man, I'm not baseball illiterate. Spare me the lesson because I already know all that bullshit.

Bullshit. It's just another case of classless White Sox players. Your team has a history of stirring shit up. Guillen, Buehrle, whoever it was who bitched about Zambrano...the White Sox live for trash talk. Your team just doesn't know how to keep its collective mouth shut. That's why it's the most classless team in baseball.

You're right. Funny I never even said that. Go back and read what I wrote slowly this time.

He is better than Maddux

Doink. There goes all of your credibility. Is Buehrle a 300 game winner? Nope. Is he going to the hall of fame? Not yet. Does he have a World Series under his belt? Nope. Close to 3000 strikeouts? Nope. A lifetime ERA under 3.00? Nope. Is Buehrle better than Maddux NOW? Of course; but Christ man, that's such an unfair comparison I can't believe you'd even bring it up. Buehrle is in his prime, Maddux is on a steep decline. If you were to compare Maddux to Buehrle in Maddux's prime, it'd be no contest. Maddux would win hands down. That's why Buehrle is only half the pitcher Maddux is. Because he's still wet behind the ears. Do me a favor and never utter Buehrle's name in the same sentence as Maddux's.

and is on track to possibly be the youngest player to 300, and seeing how he has never missed a start in his career he will get there.

Yeah, because he's immune to future injury, right? ;)

As for Frank, he doesn't use roids. He has long been a staunch supporter of drug testing and has had himself tested. He also is huge for 2 reasons. Yeah yeah yeah. And Barry Blonds thought he was using flack seed oil, right?

I'm a cubs fan and I think that it was more likely that Sosa used the big needle to get his home runs than Thomas to get his because Thomas was a friekin tight end in college and has always been about as big as he is now. So unless he used the needle to get big back in high school or college he did not take steroids in any way.

About Maddux and Beuhrle: Maddux most certainly does not cheat because if he had been cheating he definitely would have been caught by now. Also the White Sox are not the most reliable to get information on Sox cheaters because the Sox like their have a horrible inferiority complex because the Cubs are the more popular team in Chicago. This makes them hate the Cubs and more likely to make up/ believe lies that Cubs fans would never make up (although we would believe these lies). If you want proof about the inferiority complex go to a bunch of sox fans and ask them how the cubs did yesterday compared to the White Sox the majority of them will know and laugh at any known cubs fan because of it. If you ask cubs fans on the other hand about how the Sox did compared to the Cubs some might know but they won't (probably) shove it in white sox fans faces the same way.
