I prefer Linux due to it being more stable (never had Linux crash, windows crashes all the time), and I prefer the philosophy of it to the evil empire of microsoft.

However, Linux lacks compatibility for my games and hardware :(

Ahem, back to reality.

I got out of school, erm, a day ago. I've so far gone through all the Anime I have, played every game I have, and I am now bored out of my mind. I'm not going anywhere interesting until my Uncle comes in a week, and just hanging outside in Panama during the rainy season isn't genius(Here are a few hints why: It's the rainy season in the rainforest).

Eh, it's my first day of summer today. Week after next is when summer school starts.

And on Monday I start waterpolo practice from 5:30 a.m. to past 7:30. Yay. Better than being stuck here.

No. Trolling is beautiful, or can be. This isn't even flamebaiting. It's passive-agressive flamebaiting.

That said, I'm starting to really hate on linux, and it has made strides.... But if I'm going to use an OS that I have to fight with, I might as well use one that's put together in something other than a haphazard manner. So when I switch again, I think I'll be going with FreeBSD (I'll install OpenBSD on my toaster, and rotary dial phone), I might change to Xfce too.

As for the relative merits and crashing. Don't go to the bad pages that will send your mom to church, and make a passingly reasonable attempt to secure your windows 2k or better machine, it's not going to crash. Linux... ahhh kernel panic. And it's always something stupid.

For the people I know that just can't get enough of the shadier side of google image search, I *do* set them up on Mandriva, but that's just because they typically like automatic logins, and all kinds of other bad ideas too.

Windows XP Professional Edition.

Even though it does crash a lot compared to others, in all seriousness it has the most programs available by far.

Windows, though IF I were more tech savvy, Linux would be my choice. Unfortunately I'm not.

If you've got a halfway decent system lying around with standardized components, try installing BeOS and messing around with it. It's great for media (graphics, video and audio). The only sucky part is the lack of software support.

For the non-tech savvy, Mandriva seems to work pretty well, for the fundementals. There's also Knoppix, and a couple other distros. (distrowatch.com is your friend). I haven't looked at PC-BSD, but that might be pretty simple to get started with, too. Ultimately their mission seems ambitious and something that would smooth the road for people new to BSD.
