Muslim Military Academies In The USA

There aren't any as far as I can tell. Neither are there any Jewish or Hindu military academies. Although I only did a quick google search and could be very wrong.

I was just recently thinking about Christian military academies (something that to me seems somewhat oxymoronic) and was wondering how many Christians (or just average americans) might be troubled if there were Muslim military academies.

Are religious military academies funded at all by the govt.?

Which ones are "Christian Military Academies"?

Here are a few:

Aukela Christian Military Academy | Miami, Florida (http://www.aukelaeagles.com )

Christian Military School - Bethel Academy (http://www.bethelacademy.org/)

American Christian Military Academy, Ontario, California (http://www.greatschools.net/cgi-bin/ca/private/12836)

Hargrave Military Academy - A military school located in Virginia (http://www.hargrave.edu/)

Eh, does it matter? As somewhat of a Muslim, I really don't mind.

Thanks, for the informative post. I hope my money doesn't help support these.

I don't mind either (as long as my taxes don't supprot them in anyway that is) - I was just asking a hypothetical question.

*tumbleweeds*

If there was such a thing as a Muslim military academy, do you think the government would/should keep a more watchful eye on it than it would/should a Christian military school? I think it would/shouldn't.

Well, I would imagine many of the "christian" millitary academies are that in name only, and simply have the title because they were originally founded/affiliated with a church ages ago.

I mean most of the Ivy league schools are techinically "Christian Schools" for much the same reasons. I would imagine that most of these schools are pretty old too. I would imagine in traditionally muslim countries there are plenty of similar schools with a muslim theme.

Naturally, people are going to sieze upon this as further "proof" that everyone hates muslims or something.

I wouldn't be too sure that they are merely in name only. From the website of the first link I posted:

Dear Prospective Student/Parent:

Thank you for your interest in enrolling at Aukela Christian Military Academy.

I think that you will find education at Aukela to be rewarding, but challenging. So, plan now to dedicate time and energy toward your learning experience whether you are in pre-school or in the 12th grade. As you are aware, Aukela is both a Christian and Military Academy. You might be asking yourself how it is possible to teach both the Christian and Military aspects simultaneously.

Through Bible Study for our older students and Bible Verse memorization for our younger students we hope to instill a love and understanding of what our Father in Heaven expects of us. Aukela Christian Military is non-denominational and welcomes families from all religions, races and creeds.

As you begin and continue your educational experience here at Aukela you will see how Christian and Military interact with each other and how together with our academics we will produce a well-rounded student.

Not that I ahve anythign against them teaching Christianity in their school. I am merely pointing out that, yes they truely are teaching Christianity there, as I understood from your post that you didn't think that that is what they were doing.

I am a Christian, and wouldn't, so long as they didn't teach extremism. If they teach honor, integrity, discipline, responsibility, etc., like most (or so I hear) military acedemies in the US teach... then I would not say one word against it.

Thats good to hear. :)

I bet though, that a huge amount of people would protest it.
