Yup, you heard it right.
And guess what? Theyre in public places, in fact, its hard NOT to see these anywhere in the US, and, in fact, in most of the world.
They tend to run alongside roads, although they arent seen much in the larger cities with more modern electrical systems ;)

I suggest you go and complain to your local power company :)

On another note, Im sorry :D

That's not a crucifix. It is a cross. Just because something is a cross doesn't mean it's religious.

Cool shape. Over here in Europe, power masts tend to have less ambiguous shapes... more like T's

We nail people to those trees that spotted owls live in here. Of course, in Arizona we nail people to cacti.

I once knew someone who drew a picture of Jesus being crucified on a telephone pole.

They gave me a small aluminum cross the day before Desert Storm started. Is that a breach of the separation of church and state?

Yes, because the govornment spent 12 cents on a religious object.

It could be a new national movement: "Carry Your Own Electrical Grid!" We could arrange for mass migrations of people from rural towns to bigger cities when there is an energy crisis, just put the power plant on wheels pulled by oxen or people left over and SPLAT! a portable electrical grid!

No it doesn't HAVE to. People were *CRUCIFIED* before AND after Jesus of "Nazareth".
And btw, due to health codes/law at the time, the bodies were burned. Not stuck in sympathizers' tombs. Not usually anyway.

I don't think it is. It was just a morale boosting exercise, maybe a cynical appeal to you being Christian (presumably) and them being Muslims (presumably)

I guess the question of whether the armed forces should employ chaplains is another one to be explored. I mean, if we're trying to rid the government of all traces of religion, why stop with plaques that have the Ten Commandments or Nativity scenes? Let's go all the way and make the government completely secular.

But the armed forces (at least I assume this to be the case in the US) provide you with chaplains of various denominations and religions. Nobody compels soldiers to worship, but the government provides that soldiers when in uniform have access to the relevant clergy of their faith - basic decency when we're asking these people to risk their lives for us.

Of course, in Arizona we nail people to cacti.

NO NAILS REQUIRED!

or

DON'T GET NAILED WITH THE COST OF A CROSS!

Last I checked that was the slogan for People VS: Cactus, an Arizona non-profit company I've applied with.

(I live in AZ, and have seen people landing on cactus...ouch!)
